Ok. Went out shooting my Encore today. She had 2 miss fires in maybe 10 rds i shot from it... But last 4-5? years she was 100%... I do Have maybe 1500-2000 Rds out of her.

I did do a REAL good Cleaning b4 i stuck her away for the year. What you Guys think is up. Should i get a new hammer spring? OR?

I did check the brass and they did have light Hammer Strikes... But i am sure the First one that did that i did "ReTry it" And Still no go. But it still had a Real light Hammer Strike...

I did have Cam going at the time , youtube video... Skip the Fist Bit of the Video. @ the end i pull out the Encore. (First bit is my Antique Colt)

Bellm TC's sells stronger hammer springs. The Pro Hunter has the swing hammer, so I assume that you have not added any weight (i.e. extensions) to the hammer?

i picked up one of there spring kits a year ago But did not install it. Maybe ill give that a try. *there are no extensions on the hammer.*

i also have LOTS of other Cals for this Gun , maybe ill install a barrel thats much cheaper to shoot and try some Rds. or Load up some primers in brass and test fire it 100 times.

This would Piss me off if i missed a deer due to a miss fire!

If you have shot it with the MZ loader barrel much it's prolly a buildup of crud around the firing pin body and return spring.

could just be ####ty ammo? factory or hand loads?
a friend of mine had about 5 or so missfires out of a box of american eagle .223 last weekend good hammer strike just no kaboom.
hey are those the pits out by Ross?
i was out there this weekend plinking.

i have this problem with my encore when i don't clean it properly after shooting lots of rounds with the muzzleloader barrel on it. after i give it a real good cleaning the problem goes away. never have a problem with my pro hunter frame as i use it with rifle and shotgun barrels only.

Forgot to mention that it used to happen with winchester 777 primers and 777 powder ... Hasn't happened since I've switched to BH 209 with cci 209m primers. But I haven't shot it as often since switching last summer. Doesn't seem to get as fouled around the firing pin, time will tell.

I recently bought a used CVA Optima pro, wouldnt fire at all.
Close inspection was fireing pin and trigger action was dry and corroded.
Fireing pin was siezed in flash hole.
Sprayed lube in and let sit for a little while,
it free'd up fireing pin and now opperates as it should.
I guess the previous owner didnt know you had to spray lube that area as well.

I have had a similiar problem in the cold weather when to firing pin freezes due moisture or oil in the firing pin mechanism. I say start by taking the firing pin out to see if theres any extra old lube in there causing the problem.

I find that guns that have been cleaned REAL GOOD by their owners to be anything but clean.

Trust me. I clean my guns Much better then most ppl do.

& B4 i used it last year i gave it a cleaning in the Ultrasonic Cleaner

Thats what i like , The Frame fits in my Ultrasonic Cleaner

So i Cannot see it being too bad inside.

I am Going to Take it Right apart tonight and check it out. And maybe install some new springs.

pulled her apart , she was nice in clean. & thats what i thought seeing i cleaned it right after i was done for the year.

i am starting to think that it was bad ammo. as i shot off 50 or so primers and she is fine..
