My 50 cal inline likes Hornady 250 and 300 gr SST's, loaded over 100 gr's of 777 loose powder (tried 777 and Pyrodex pellets but accuracy wasn't as good). I tried probably 7 or 8 different sabots/bullet combo's. The SST's won out hands down. VG accuracy at 100 meters. Fair price as well.
I agree that SST's are very accurate and T7 loose powder performs better than the pellets, I just don't care for the SST's performance.

Pure lead bullets (especially in sabots) are fine with 100 grain loads(sub 1,800fps) but are not suitable for higher velocity loads like the Encore will produce.
I've had the best luck with either 100 or 150 grain Pyrodex pellet load and a 250 grain SST. I've killed nearly 50 big game animals with SSTs and while the core does occasionally seperate from the jacket...the animals were still very dead. The new bonded SSTs do perform much better upon impact but they are not as accurate as the originals for me.
100gr charge worked for J. Shockey. Although the 300gr SST's made the animals dead, I just did'nt care for their core separation, thats just my opinion. I don't need to shoot 150gr charge either to fill my freezer, my brother swears by his 150gr charge(3 T7 pellets) & a Barnes 290gr TMZ.
My loads have proven that they are adequate, because it's worked for me could be totally different to someone else.
