TC Venture? Do you like yours?

I've been looking for a 7mm-08 or 280rem bolt action with a detachable mag. Found some in a TC Venture synthetic blued. When I check the specs for these rifles on the TC website the numbers seem distorted.

Price is right on these, but I have no experience with them. Any info, good and bad, on them would be appreciated.
 
I have one in 7mm mag. Overall I like it. 60* bolt lift is nice, but the bolt is a bit hard to lift while bench shooting. Bolt is extremely smooth. Smoother than any savage or rem 700 I've used. Picks up a round out of the magazine extremely easy. You really have to be watching in order to feel it pick up a round. Very nice. Recoil pad is hella soft. Rather nice also. The trigger is beautiful. At first it was around 4 lbs and creepy. Pulled it apart, adjusted the creep out of it, and it's now a nice 2.5ish lbs and zero, I mean zero, creep. The best part of the gun!
The only quarrels I have with it: the mag. At first it was very difficult to release it from the stock. 5 minutes with a Dremel tool and a sanding bit and it's perfect. Not a big deal really. Secondly, is the bolt handle. It's small. Very small. Feels a bit "Toyish". I feel like this also contributes to the heavy feeling bolt lift. The handle is round, so it wouldn't be much to cut it off and thread it, and extend it. But that's a bit of a pain in the butt. My last issue is with aftermarket parts. I'm wanting a solid one piece canted rail. Nobody makes one. At least not that I can find. "Apparently" one from a savage round receiver will fit. I don't know this for a fact though. Thanks for the info. Interesting about the bolt lift. I find the same thing with the Brownings and they too have the three lug bolt. I like the tikka two lug with 70 degree to be the best of both worlds. If only they would chamber the 280 or make a short action receiver for the 7mm-08!

I've got one in 7-08.
It is smooth as silk.
Bolt lift felt stiff until I realized a little forward pressure cured it. It's almost like the faster you run it the smoother it is.
I like the refined bolt. I have big mitts but I find it easy to run and I like that it doesn't hang way out off the side of the iron.
A bonus when going in and out of a gun boot all the time.
Trigger is good.
The only thing I didn't like was the plastic mag. Fit and function in the rifle were perfect, but it's a snap together unit that had some play. I firmed it up with a little model cement at the seams and it's all good.
It has taken over top spot as my deer rifle, and prompted me to sell my Sako after it sat unused for a couple seasons.
I'm very happy with mine.

Guess a better adjective would have been discrepancies. I meant something doesn't add up. If you look at the specs below from the TC website the 7-08 is a short action and has a 2" shorter barrel but is only 1 3/4" shorter overall than the 280? As well, they are both listed as being 7lbs? By the way does anyone know the actual weight of their long/short actions? So as it reads now I have no way to tell as obviously there is something wrong. These kinds of errors are all through their specs and in all honesty that does nothing for my confidence in them? If they don't have the time to proof read a few specs they are posting on their website for the whole world to see, makes one wonder about their quality control! That being said the venture does check a lot of requirements on my list for a suitable rifle.

I have one in 30-06. I like it a bunch, but may part with it because I bought the TC Dimension in 7 Rem Mag. They do pretty much the same thing. Great trigger, no complaints about the bolt lift, but I hope tc stops recalling these things. Have been through two, and hopefully they have any issues figured by now. Its not fancy, but it is enormously practical. If you're going to pick one up, just be aware of the recall status.
 
I've had one in 7mm mag and was very pleased with the accuracy and function. I'd have no worries about buying another as long as the recalls were done. If you are thinking of other rifles in this price range you might look at a Weatherby Vanguard S2 which IMHO oppinion is a bit better rifle for the money but the TC is a solid buy as well and has the advantage of a removable mag.
 
I haven't had any problems with mine (300wm), I reload for it, groups half inch to 3/4 at 100 yards when I'm shooting off a bench. I use Sierra game kings 165gr. Loading for this gun I didn't have to seat the bullet as deep as the Manuel says I need to, or I can leave lots of bullet out of the case, handy when using 200gr+ bullets, I notice cause on tikka t3 varmint, I had rto push the bullet in deep and compress powder
