EDIT: Updated the times.

Hi Everyone,
We are hosting a precision rimfire match to take place this October at the Twin City Rifle Club. Details are below. We wanted to keep things simple by only having the two classes of factory vs custom, so no distinction for bolt vs semi. While yes this is challenging for semi-auto shooters, semi-auto also has some advantages such as being able to shoot quickly during breaks in the wind. I'll be shooting the match with a semi-auto!

Overview:

This match will be shot from concrete benches, using a 22 LR rimfire rifle, at targets posted on the 100, 200, and 300 yd target boards.

Equipment:

A 22 LR rifle, in any action, with any optics. There will be two classes of factory and custom. A factory rifle (a) may be bedded, (b) must have a trigger pull of at least 2 lbs, and (c) must have its original barrel and trigger/hammer mechanism (with the exception of trigger springs). Rifles from higher-end manufacturers like Anschutz will be assigned to the custom class.

The use of a rear bag as well as a front rest, bipod, or tripod rest is encouraged. One piece shooting rests are not allowed.

For long distance 22 LR shooting we recommend subsonic target ammunition and a canted scope base. For a 22 LR zeroed at 50 yards a come-up of ~ 48 MOA (14 MRAD) is required to reach 300 yards, so please ensure your scope has this level of adjustment available in the click adjustments and/or reticle. A sight-in period will be available prior to firing for score.

A few wind flags will be put up in the course, but if the shooter desires more they are encouraged to bring their own.

Course of Fire:

White paper (with red marker aiming points) will be put up at all 3 distances to allow shooters to check their zero and come-ups.

Match targets will be put up at 100, 200, and 300 yd. All shooters will be given 10 minutes to shoot their 100 yd targets (in squads if necessary), and then this will repeat for the 200 and 300 yd targets.

The 100 yd target will include a sighter bullseye, and 5 scored bullseyes, each receiving 5 shots for score. The 200 yd target will be a 2’x2’ archery target, receiving 22 shots, 20 of which will be scored. The 300 yd target will be a 4’x4’ archery target, receiving 22 shots, 20 of which will be scored.

At the end there will be an optional $5 money shoot (split into the two classes of factory and custom). This will consist of shooting a 10-shot 100 yd group, and the shooter with the smallest group will win the pot in their class.

Fee:
Match fee is $40, and includes lunch (soft drink/coffee/water and a burger/hot dog). The optional money shoot is $5.

Date:
This match will take place on Sunday October 8. Sight-in will start at 10 am, with sign up before that. The match will begin at 11 am.

Location:
Twin City Rifle Club, 1858 40 Line, New Hamburg, ON, N3A 4B1.

Just an update...was at the club today to check loads and come ups.
10 to 30kph winds made it interesting.Forecast for Sunday a LOT calmer.
FWIW
after 100 yard zero 200 was 19.5 moa and 300 was 45 moa up
The subsonics are pretty accurate and hyper rounds poor results
Test your scopes for elevation max and if needed what additional holdover.
Bring lots ammo!!!!!
Hoping we can run this on time and finish earlier than later.
Bird will be sitting on dining room table for carving by 5....
Hope to see some new faces there.
Gord
