NEXT MATCH WILL BE HELD April 22, 2012

Matches are held at TCRC near Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
Located: 1860 Line 40 (Line 40 and Road 104), Perth East, N3A 4B1

Note: This year we are going to introduce a 200 yard aggregate. This will allow those who are not setup to 300 yards to compete in the matches first two stages.
Highest scores at each distance will also be recognized.

Registration and squading begins at 8:30AM. Come early if you need to zero on the 25 or 50 Meter range. Match distances will be 100, 200 and 300 yards. Some time and assistance will be given to shooters to allow them to get their come-ups for these distances before the match begins.

A full description of the match, equipment info and some practice targets can be found here: Precision Long Range .22LR Info

Shooting the little rimfire round at these distance is a lot of fun and quite challenging. Its great practice for centerfire long range shooting.

Canted bases are usually required to reach 300 yards (you need at least 45 MOA of up travel from a 25 yard zero). EGW will re-machine the base in any angle you want for an extra $20. I ordered a 60 MOA extended rail for $83 shipped to my door. M.Werks will also do custom rails that fit the 11mm dovetail, particularly Anschutz. Burris Signature Zee rings are another option.

Since match ammo is often only available to many of us via mail order, I'm going to suggest bringing any ammo you may wish to trade of sell with you. It's a good way for people to try new ammo without having to order a large quantity.

Results can also be found in the side menus of the match info page above.

I will play. I havent shot my 22 at those distances but it would be fun to try. As a bonus im only 10 min down the road. Will this match be open to non members?

I'd be in like Flynn if I was in your area. I shoot with a group out here on Van. Island - we use 300m ISU targets reduced for 100m. Ten ring is just under 1MOA and the x-ring is about 3/8 minute. We have a scope and a metallic sight class. Our championships in August are shot at an equivalent target at 200m. Lots of fun. The archery target idea looks interesting.

I've added .pdf files of the 50, 100, and 200 Yard/Meter targets for those who would like to print them out and try them. The 100 Yard/Meter target can also be used for 150 Yard/Meter practice as it is just the center rings of that target.

Lots of interest. But, the concern that I am hearing a lot is that if there is any wind whatsoever, the little .22 bullet will be blown several target stands over when you're out at 300 yards. Well, it isn't quite that bad. Yes, the wind is going to affect it a lot, but that's really the point... Its no different with a centerfire once you get way out there.

Saturday I shot the course-of-fire under normal Twin City match condition (gusts of 5-10 MHP, changing to any and every direction). Here are the results:
100 yards (2x 10 shots)
200 yards (22 shots)
300 yards (22 shots)

The match targets have been chosen with conditions like these in mind. The 300 yard target has a 9.8" 10 ring and is on a 50"x50" sheet. Unless the winds are extremely high and gusty, that is a lot of area for catching rounds. More than enough under normal conditions.

Come out and give it a try, it isn't really than difficult. Speedjunkiesracing was also there and he tried it for the very first time with his CZ-452 using a fixed scope and inexpensive American Eagle ammunition. His results were very good.

There will be a session before the match begins for competitors to be able to shoot at each distance and find their come-ups. Ballistics charts for match ammunition are also being provided.

Got out today with the new borrowed scope. Thanks Gord

Tested it at 100y with three types of ammo. 22 shots on each target.
Worst two shots do not count. Hope I scored it right.
In the real match I will have 3 targets at 100y. One for two sighters and 10 on each of the other two.

I will be out Thursday for 200y practice and friday I will be working on my 300y.

Hey ,you should tell them conditions as well....It was NOT a calm day and switches faster than trigger breaks with 2 to 8mph winds.
FWIW you should post a want ad here and on other shooting sights to see if you can locate any of that hammer ammo your rifle likes. Would even pay 2x's the original cost if you can find more. Otherwise the search for it's replacement can frustrate.
Nice shooting
Gord
Looks like a good group of shooters are going to be there to have some fun at the match.
