Well I shot the TDSA AP1 course on the weekend of the May 26/27.The course starts at the basic's and moves up with the subjects like grip, trigger squeeze, stance, etc. The two instructors are Scott Little (he's the local guy) and Len the Texan. Both have alot of experience and are able to get the course content across to the students. The course seemed to offer something to both advance and begining shooters. The staff at Silverdale were excellent and they put forth a tremendous effort to have the course run smoothly and provide all the necessary "kit" for the students.

Overall I was very pleased with the staff, course and the club. Most of the students saw a 50% improvement from when they started and the average round count for the 2 days was 1000:D . The second installment is the AP2 which includes rifle and shotgun.

Contact Silverdale for course POC's and dates. The Silverdale TDSA club will be up and running over the next several months.

Nice write up. My wife and I were scheduled to take this but due to illness we had to postpone until the end of July. I have also signed up for the AP2 in September. Scott has been great allowing me to postpone eventhough we had paid. Apparently many people on the waiting list so it wasn't an issue.

Looking forward to it as I just completed my Black Badge and the more instruction you can get the better. I still can't believe training is so hard to find here.

One question why would AP2 (Advanced Pistol) include shotgun and rifle? I was told is was the second part of the Pistol course with movement involved. Although I just bought a tactical shotgun....hmmmmmm....

Yeah I'll have to stock up on ammo as 1000 is a little more than what I thought.

Well I may have "put my foot in my mouth" by saying that, at the end of the course both Scott and Len demoed some shotgun and rifle skills. I think that the bulk of the AP2 course is pistol, but it may include some rifle and shotgun work to get ready for 3&4 or there dedicated shotgun and carbine course. Either way its is nice to see how the skills transfer over.

I'll speak to this issue and in doing so give both the club and TDSA a pat on the back for coming up and Silverdale for hosting the course. I have attended a couple of courses in the US because there was nothing offered up here. I know that as shooters and club members we need to support these courses or they won't be feasible to have them put on up here. Once again a big thumbs up for TDSA and Silverdale for putting the course together. I also have to add that the staff at Silverdale made up some "steel" targets for the course and rushed to have them in place and working for the weekend. 10 out of 10 for there effort. Lanz Shooting that is part of the Silverdale range is offering all kinds of accessories and firearms, ammo to support this type of shooting. Check them out troops, the prices are quite good and the staff will work with ya to get you what you want. Cheers

Also Scott and Silverdale are going to be holding clinics as well. The first clinic is Grip it & Rip It on June 23rd 10am and 3 more to follow. I took the AP1 course and thought that it was great I have taken alot of courses and by far this is the best one.
