Here is my cry for help.

Today I bought my first part for my AR build.
A blemished NEA lower from SFRC, now before you start hating.

STOP, and press back on your browser, I am not interested in these arguments, again.

I have been reading a lot online about building an AR, but my problem is the sites are all from the US. Referencing to US shops and prices.

I would like to know from the experienced CGN's :

Where can I purchase AR parts in Canada? (also what do I need?)
I do not care about name brands, but reliability. Cost effective, but not garbage.
Would love to build an all Canadian parts gun.
I do not even care if all the parts are blemished, since I will refinish them at a later date.

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you
And please don't hate this is my first AR, I would like to cherish this build. :D

The banners at the top of the page.

Look for Questar, Oneshot Tactical, Armseast, and Wolverine.

Those are the ones I've dealt with so far for AR parts. Many of the other guys have parts too, but between those 4 is just about everything you need.

ATRS is worth checking out too, they don't have a banner at the top.

SRFC you already know about.

Common Canadian parts are Barrels, uppers, lower, Muzzles, and gasblocks.
There are other odd parts, but most of everything else comes from the US.

IF you're on the Wolverine site, look under "firearms>parts". Lot's of armalite stuff.
Otherwise, "Accessories>Rifles" and "Accessories>tactical gear".
There site is pretty good to browse to get a feel for what's available and what it'll cost you.

Most of the other sites are self explanatory, they will have a "AR Parts" section in their menus.

If it was me, I'd go back to SRFC and try and score an NEA upper just to it matches somewhat. Canadian uppers are a touch tricky. I THINK Dlask makes uppers. Some have ordered from them and got DD, but their site suggest they make their recent ones.
There is also a company called Motiuk MFG in the gunsmith section that makes uppers.

I can't think of any other Canadian uppers off the top of my head that are readily available. Most uppers are available with the door and assist already installed.

For Canadian Barrels, you can get S&J from Oneshot. About a week ago when I asked, they had 14" and 16" in stock. I ordered a 16".
NEA makes barrels too, you'll find them on SRFC.

ATRS will custom make you a barrel.

I believe NEA, S&J, and ATRS all make gas blocks.

NEA is the only Canadian company off the top of my head that makes BGC's.
From my research, if you go US, LMT or DD are good choices.
DD is easy to find, Oneshot has them. so does Wolverine. I would be tempted to order both the barrel and BGC from Oneshot and ask if they can headspace check them.

DD Lower Parks Kits seem to be the GO TO kit for most people, as such they seems to be commonly out of stock. DPMS are common but are inferior I heard. RRA supposedly also makes a Decent LPK, Questar has them.

Stocks are easy to find. They are to taste and Magpul is the popular vote. Everybody sells Magpul.

Everyone also sells some from of muzzle. NEA, Dlask, and ATRS make muzzles.

That covers most of your core parts, anything else depends on how you're going to dress it up. That'll determine what kind of buffer tube, buffer/spring, barrel nut, etc, you'll need.

I'm in the process of ordering and building an AR so this subject is fresh in my mind, even tho I'm new to AR's myself.

Conte,

Thank you for all your help.
I must of had complete brain failure not looking at our board sponsors.
Feeling so smart right now.
Please keep me informed of your build

Thanks

Thanks, like I said, I'm in the thick of it right now, so it's all I'm thinking about these days.
It's a waiting game. So far all I got is a Mag, a bolt, a charging handle, and a finger guard.
On order I'm waiting on a barrel, a CMMG piston kit, and a buffer/spring kit, an upper, a partial LPK, a stock assembly, and a grip.

I ordered my Buffer from "Heavybuffers dot com". I expect that will take the longest coming from the states. I'm surprised they will ship to Canada, but then, it's just a buffer. I got their A/T kit. It's weight adjustable so I can tweek it, I like that.
It's also an Anti Tilt Buffer I chose for good measure cause I insisted on going Piston in a gun that is designed to be DI. I got their recommended Wolff spring too.

I have yet to order my Tigger, and Lower. I actually don't have my RPAL right now . . . but I do. I'm legally licensed but my card has not arrived in the mail yet. So funny that, I haven't got the card, but a local store has already transferred a pistol over to me and it's in my safe right now, hah.

Yeah, it's one thing to know that there are sponsors and start checking them, it's another to know which deal with AR parts. Many just deal in complete guns, and some don't deal in AR's at all. Many of them are just hunting supply even.

I think I spent a week just visiting every sponsors site to figure out which ones were useful to me. There are a couple of very good gun stores in my city, so most online shopping is redundant to me unless they deal in very specific special merchandise.
Heck one of my local stores is even a dealer for Wolverine, so I've sent a majority of my business there was simply due to the fact that I will pay their retail at my counter and not have to pay shipping.

What kind of AR15 do you want to end up with? CQB, service rifle, PDW, DMR, all purpose? Used parts can be had cheap, just be sure they're not banged up. PM sent.

That is a really good question.
Not a DMR, for that I wish to build a dedicated rifle later on.
Not a PDW, gonna build a 1911 for that one day.
(yes I have lots of builds in mind)
So I'm guessing an "all purpose" or CQB.
Unsure what a "service rifle" describes?

Thanks

Just a heads up once you get into ar's your bank account will never be the same
I bought a $700 norc ar and ended up spending more money on accessories for it then i did the rifle its self

Yes, it's not necessarily the purchase price of the rifle - but the accessorizing and operation costs. In hindsight, the actual rifle is cheap! ;)

So I'm guessing an "all purpose" or CQB.

My first AR was a 10.5" LMT Defender. Loved it.
