Tear Gas Shotgun Shell?

Was sent a pic from a US facebook acquaintance who thinks because I'm "into guns" I would know something about this...



I know nothing, but google tells me its a liquid CS gas barricade penetrating 12ga shot shell.

Anyone ever see something like this up here? Looks like something that would be fun at parties. Or maybe at the annoying loud neighbour's parties anyways.

Just throw it in the burn barrel at the range if you want to get rid of it. haha

That will sure keep the bear at bay. I'd make up a ridiculous plaque for it to mount the one round at the hunt camp by the back door....

Something like Use In Case of Hunting Emergency or...more witty.

You can see up to a dozen different gimmick shells in most any US gun store: bolo rounds, flechettes, fire projectors, goodness knows what, but I don't think I ever saw a CS gas round, which might well be dangerous to the shooter more than anything. All such things are illegal in Canada as far as I know, which I think does nothing but save us from some silliness.

I think cs shotgun rounds used to be a big thing with police inthe 70s early 80s

Rcmp used to use them. Appartently it takes 10 to 12 rounds thru a window to get a guy out of a room

The Germans even put tear gas in a 7.92mm anti-tank rifle bullet.

Looking at the name "Ferret", I wonder if that's a little play on words and these shells were supposed to be good a ferreting people out?

I know the same folks that make the “dragons fire” and other exotic rounds also make a rubber bullet/bean bag type round filled with mace, which sounds similar to this, but the “barrier penetrating” thing the op mentioned makes me think this isn’t something you could fire at a person. Well, not without making an unintentional hole, anyway.
