i would buy one just cause the looks and i do like bolt action rifles but not for 1k, maybe $400 but even then i almost rather buy a surplus rifle, but i am really disappointed i really though it be semi

$400 for a BA AK look-alike seems a bit steep to me. I figured that it would be priced in the SKS range. Unless it features proprietary 30+ rd mags, then maybe it would be worth a bit more than an SKS. But not much. I can't see anyone shelling out more than 250 for this rifle if it has pinned AK mags.

Priced reasonably for it's features, I could see myself picking one up, but priced anywhere near what some of the original speculation had valued it at (when it was thought to be a semi auto Tantal)... no thank you.

This is such EPIC FAIL! A bolt action ak is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of. Such a let down. Whoever os responsinle for this abomination you fail sooooo epically. Like damn!

so is it possible to add a gas system, and have a functioning AK? I am asking, cause if so, the RC's will likely not let it through.

If it has a solid trunnion, no gas port or provision for a piston and a completely different setup inside the receiver when it comes to guide rails etc, good luck.

While I can appreciate the effort by companies to bring in new firearms, lets be honest like others have posted unless this particular platform offers any great price/magazine advantage, my SKS is still a better and more economical purchase...

Would it be any worse than a dummy suppressor hung on a gun?
These seem to be popular in certain circles.....

Or buy one now to prepare for the prohibition of all semi autos.....

Since all guns that take 5.45 AK mags are prohib would the mags need to be pinned to 5 for the 5.45x39 version? I'd get one of those since its a more accurate round and would benefit from the bolt action.

Canadian Gun Buyers = fickle as all get out

I don't know how anyone expected a "true AK" to make it through.

Personally I think it will have an interesting role, particularly if the magazine options afforded to a manually operated rifle prove true.

I could see myself having a great time with this rifle using a bipod and a left side charging handle.

I get that people like to shoot fast, but I don't think there's anything wrong with shooting accurately either.

Really I'm still in the "wait and see" territory.

I don't know that we can assume it will shoot as accurately as say a modern commercial bolt action. Just because you manually cycle it does not mean that the bolt lock up is as tight and consistent as a turn bolt. Given the very few commercial straight pull actions on the market, on can probably assume they either are not as accurate as a turn bolt or are very difficult to make as accurate. Given this, the BA AK it won't be much to write home about in the accuracy department. Now, it may well be more accurate than an AK because you don't have the heavy bolt cycling with every shot, but being more accurate than an AK is not really saying much (well that's what I've read on the internet)

The left side cocking handle would only be useful with a bi-pod, mono-poding on the mag or an over the knee locked kneeling position but it would be an abortion for any position where you had to support the rifle yourself.

At this point, the only part that I am really curious about outside of price is that Urban Tactical describes it as having that 1889 Schmidt Ruben action. Unless this is very different than my 1896 Schmidt Ruben, it is a very intricate and likely expensive action to produce. I'd like to get my hands on one for curiosities sake just to see the guts so to speak. The 1889 action was dropped as it was not terribly strong as well. Something to consider.
