This may be a stupid question but... How does one get a stock off of a buffer tube?

I want the get the buffer tube off this as I have a new stock for it

http://www.leapers.com/prod_detail.php?mitem=&level1=&level2=&itemno=RB-T4BC&status=utg

I cant get this link to post! Copy and paste maybe?

I tried taking the screw out but it is awkward to turn and hold and I ended up marking the screw head up.

Thanks in advance

Are you taking off the stock? Or the stock and buffer tube off?

If you're just taking the stock off, you should just be able to pull the locking assembly downwards and slide it off... If you're taking the whole thing off, you'll just need a castle nut wrench to remove the nut.

Just important to note, there are 2 different sizes for carbine stocks, there's a good graphic somewhere here... Just do a bit of digging

Grab the latch lever at the pin and pull it as far out as you can, hold it there, then slide it off.

This moves the pin all the way out of the notch in the stock.

Am I pulling it off the back? or do I need to remove it from the lower reciever and take if off that way? I would call that the front?

I just want the stock off the tube

pull latch down, pull buttstock off toward rear of rifle. There is a lip on the buffer tube that the pin hits which stops the stock from coming off the tube when you extend it all the way. When you pull the latch down the pin comes down with it and clears the lip. No need to remove the buffer tube.

Sorry, if this is useless for the OP, but I've found that if you pull (away from the stock) the end of the lever that usually gets squeezed, I find that the pin will 'click' 'open'. And to 'close' the pin, just tap the top end (with the nut on the end) rearwards to the back of the stock again. I'm not 100% clear, I know, sorry.

WOW that was easy. Thanks for not crapping on the noob question

Better to ask instead of taking the Castle nut off, sometimes the castle nut is Centre punched like the Noveske rifles and is a ##### to take off?, Than You realize it was so easy to take off after all said and done.
Anyways are always here to answer your questions if we could
