Well, nobody at home cares, but I snagged a killer deal that I just have to tell somebody in the know. Dropped by a local gunshop to see what's new, they had a pile of cruddy old gun cases lying on the floor. Good thing I like wading through crap, as most of it was, cause there smack in the middle of the pile was a mint condition 1943 marked Lee Enfield canvas rifle scabbard. In my most uninterested tone- "Whatchya want for this?"
"Oh, I dunno, five bucks?"
BAM! A fin was on the counter before the words finished passing their lips.
I think I actually skipped out of the store...

Just like last year I was scrounging through a surplus store near my residence, and I stumbled on an M2 Garand flashhider. Talked him down to $20, sold it on fleabay to an American collector for $450CAD.

Just enough to buy my BCD 43

Nice find on the velise. Depending on the markings, those seem to go for between $40 and $65 these days.
I always look under the tables at the gunshows, where the vendors pile up all their empty rifle velises. It is rare that you won't find one or two at each show. Often $5 or $10 wil take it, but lately this hasn't been working for me.

What markings were on the case besides the date? Is it Canadian or Brit or ??

I feel the same way every time I buy a rifle from Jean at P&S. His pricing is just so good considering the level of service you get and the pics in advance of each specific rifle - unlike other dealers. Getting what you expect instead of a crap shoot is worth its weight in GOLD.

probably due to the fact the only gunshop I visit is P&S, about once every leap year

I have on 2 ocations gone away from a gun show with pure gold paid for with bits of string found in my pocket, somehow i managed to never crack a smile... but once i get it in the car, i cant stop smiling

and +1 to what claven said, good service is worth its weight in gold.

After several attempts to give a certain company, which isnt a sponsor of this site, my money in return of a product, i have simply given up, i refuse to deal with a compnay with such horrible service... id rather pay double for someone to answer a phone or an email!

John, wasn't it you that sent me some 6.5x55 strippers by mail?

I just realized how short my memory is. John Sukey (IIRC ) sent me some free stripper clips and some drill rounds for my Swedish Mauser, and Lineman sent me (for the cost of shipping) a fiberglass SKS stock that may or may not be "milsurp". So when I throw in my Calum SKS bandolier, it turns out that CGN is the best place to "shop".

It also makes me look like a cheap bastard. My friends will tell you its true
