Telegraph creek

[Slimbo]

Well after spending the last week or so reading everthing i can find on the Telegraph creek Atlin trail and ordering a few books of peoples lives living on the trail i plan to hike the 265km strech some day. Maybe the following year.

I have also read as many things as i can find on sheslay free mike. The whole story around him is very interesting.


While in telegraph creek i was going to hike some of the trail anyway. Maybe to saloon lake, camp there and do some fishing.

But all this reading has me wanting to atleast hike to sheslay. seems like a good spot to make it too. Not very far but far enough to get a feel for the area.
So i think im going to try and find this cabin.

Does anyone have any info of where it is, direcrions there or gps cords?

I can point you right to it, though that section (telegraph to sheslay) will be treacherous now because it all burnt two years ago. I don’t believe the outfitter has cut the trail out yet so walking may be a nightmare of blowdown. I can call him and see the condition of the trail and let you know when we talk.

Thanks for the info and yeah that doesnt sound like a very fun hike, after hurricane juan blew through here the woods was impossible to get through with all the blow downs. And half of not very commonly used trails were lost for good. I guess we will find out how the trail is soon enough.

And Slimbo, after i pm'ed you i figured i should have just asked on here, that way anyone else planning something like this can find the info. And maybe i could hear a few stories of others doing it.

Think people forget, this is real Wilderness, things change and stay that way.

Yeah it truly is, although for me its sad to think of all the peoples stories an hard work lost for ever. We had a trail here by my moms house it was used by the miqmaq for it went to by small burial ground, Once that blew over from juan no one cut it back out. Then they changed it to a "park" so no hunting or motorized vehicles its been lost.

There was also an old farm that had a grave yard of about 15 graves. Some dating back to 1790's in the same area... i may still be able to find that one but not many others could.
