Tell me about my Walther PPK

any history you can tell me about the walther based on the following?
-its marked Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do. Modell PPK 7,65mm
-it has a proof mark with an "N" under it directly after the "7,65mm"
-same proof mark on the barrel with a "66" and what looks like a deer antler after it
-same proof mark after the serial number "194###"
-matching serial numbers slide and frame
-plastic grips
-proof mark looks like a german eagle.

amaze me CGN'ers - and thanks in advance!
 
I bet it's a nice one! Postwar commercial version, will have to check the serial number to estimate date, but definitely postwar. Any chance of pics? I love these!

I had a beautiful 1942 model with matching box and colour owners manual. It had the nazi markings and matching serial numbers. The nicest blueing I ever saw for a gun that was 60 years plus. I sold it for $700 on gun nutz about 2 years ago.

I had contacted a walther expert on this site.

He is one of the world experts and he told me where it was made (they had many plants) and what it's value was, around $1100 US and how many was made.

well, I have pics but I won't even try to post them. It has some blueing wear around the front grip strap, but otherwise very nice. I bought it from a retired RCR officer in Belleville Ontario for $75 when they were making them prohibited somewhere arond 1997. Nice buy, nice guy and its my only connection to prohib status right now. But I'm still really interested in the history of this gun. anyone with knowledge?

Thank goodness for 280 GB hardrive! I found 2 pics.

Zoom in near the rear of the trigger, on the frame and you will see the nazi stamp.

Just under the ejection port is the crown and N stamp, or something like that.

Think about it 1942, middle of a war and a DA, with a mag safety, perectly manufactured, with a freaking colour owners manual!

The expert as able to tell me that the guns from this plant were mainly issued to high government officals and police. The not so nicely finished PPK's went to the nationl gurd, army or whatever. They made 2 classes of firearms, execellent and good. Nice to know the class system lives in the middle of a war. He lso pin pointed the date of manufacturing to Oct. 1942.

Boy it was perfect! Oh well, I got 700 bones for her and the German vet (I think) that bought it is happy.

Yeah, I remember when they first started showing up in the country. They were $125 in boxes with papers. Spare mags with finger rests were $9.95... :eek: That was a loooong time ago, though. :(

thanks but I'll try and catch a cheaper one. I just need something that I can cheaply shoot at seagulls, owls and bats out of my city apartment. I hope thats legal.....

Keep looking out, the deals are out there. As you know i picked up a 380 auto, made 1939, with heel release for $175 a couple of months back. But then again I have been looking for this kind of a deal for many years.
