tell me about ruger deerfields

I think I would like to try a ruger deerfield. I don't really know anything about them though. I'm very familiar with 10/22's however. How similar are they to a 10/22? What does one get for accuracy? Is it a 4 shot mag? What do they tend to go for on the used market? I would like to pick one up someday but you don't see them for sale very often. I think it would be a fun range gun but if I were to ever hunt bear or pigs I think it would be a good choice.

My favorite deer-bear rifle. Action is the same as a mini-14, same overall size as a 10/22 though. Mine shoots 1 1/2" at 100 yards. Yes, four shot rotary mag.

Used: Good luck...*if* you manage to find one, plan on spending 800-1000 for it.

really? For $1000 I think I would be happier with something else. I was thinking $500-$600 Hell for $1000 I could get a new m77 lh scout.

Yes you could but then you are into a bolt action. You are comparing apples to oranges. .44Mag & .308
The ruger Deerfield is a great short range deer gun for thick bush and also a really good bear gun when sitting over bait.
Short range thumper. I agree on the 800.00 to 1000.00 if you can find one. Good luck.
