Just curious about shot capsules for revolver loads. Anyone here ever try them?? What kind of experience did you have loading them?? Shooting them?? Any tales a la' hansol style making them would be appreciated as well.:p

I have a bunch around here somewhere that I'd give you for free (if I knew where they were). I tried them in a .44 mag....they were a waste of time. Expect 6 ft. patterns at 4 paces. I tried them every which way - crimped, not crimped, small shot, bigger shot....all were useless, in every configuration.

I'd advise using the CCI .38/.375 shotshell in a Marlin 1894C. When I tried one it didn't chamber easily and I was reluctant to fire it. I opened the action and upon extraction the case came out but the shotcup stayed in the chamber. The base of the shotcup is open so the entire load of shot fell into the action. I had to take the rifle apart to get the shot out.

After doing that I turned my attention to the shotcup that was still lodged in the chamber. I used a cleaning rod to push it back out through the chamber. This is when I learned the shotcup is two pieces. The top came out nicely but the plastic ring remained tightly jammed into the chamber. After a few well chosen curse words I managed to get it out with a little oil and a hard plastic cleaning tool.

I have used them in both 38/357 and 44. The group opens dramaticly with increased velocity. Use a small dose of powder and the group is good to about 20 feet. if the pellets will go through both sides of a 48 oz juice can, that is fast enough.

Shot shells fired out of a rifled barrel fly in a spiral sending the shot who knows where. Don't even think about shooting 'em inside. The wee shot can and will come back a long way.
