Hey all.

Think I am finally gonna get an AR. With the rumours flying around about how they may be "unavailable" in the near future........:(

Questions are I guess about barrel length and reliablility. ?

How are they for being tempermental?

Recommendations? Stag, LMT or others?

Been trying to do some reading. Have spent very little time here in the Black Rifle forum, so please be gentle..........

Can't go wrong with any black rifle in my opinion we need more people to own them so when the libs some day get back into power it will be more difficult for them to take them or make them prohibs.

Can't go wrong with a Stag and Walter at Arms East is a good guy to deal with.
You will need a 20", a 16" and a 14.5". For a 14.5" build try the forums.

I bought a bushmaster with a bunch of goodies off the EE, didn't know that much about them but I knew I wanted one, it pisses off liberals and it looks good in my safe. What more could you ask for?:)

Aside from CGN being one of the best sites for AR knowledge, you might want to join the home of AR fanatics. AR15.com

You could spend the next 5 years perusing that site and not come close to reading everything. The guys are knowledgeable and friendly and welcome newbies.

Also it helps if you have high speed internet as most of the threads are pic heavy.

Thanx.

I have read (quite awhile ago) that the shorter barrelled versions had reliablity issues because of the gas system. Too short of a gas piston thing a me jiggy to function............

Plus that new rifles all have fixed stocks. Don't come with the collaspable stocks. Can you still get a collaspable stock after the fact?

For what it's worth there is no looming shortage of AR15s. There are in fact new sources opening up in Europe, and accessories are coming in from Isreal, and China.

Some short barrelled ARs aren't gas operated. Blow back in the Carbon 15 9mm...and its flawless.
