Tell me about the Australian Arms rifles

"...no replacement mags available..." Marstar had 'em. $39 each though. Wouldn't part with $800 for the rifle either.
"...works fine in an M14..." Nope. An M305 or M14 mag won't fit in an AIA either. Even if it did, it'd have to be pinned.

True for interchangeability but last time I checked there was no limits on mags for bolt actions or any other non-semi-autos.

Yes. The AIA magazine capacity is not limited by law. That of the M-14 magazine is. Even if the magazine is being used in a bolt action rifle.

OK, back to the subj.

Wat can I say? AIA rocks. Awesome quality, built like a tank. That said, with all that extra wood and iron (hand guard, buttplate fit for hand to hand combat etc), I'm carrying I've started to look for a plastic stock options... And scratches also. It's not like it's a trouble, but the lighter the better in my case, there a days I'm walking up to 20-25k of coulees and canyons... Love prairie hunts.

Maybe the injection moulded sporter stocks for No. 4 Lee Enfields could be adapted. Why not get a No. 4 butt, and a sported forend and see if they could be fitted? If so, the aftermarket synthetics might work.

Forend....Foreend only, or whole wood from a sporter... Hmmm.... Thanks for and idea!

Synth will do I'm just not sure which one. Sorry for off topic.

Speaking of AIA's as of collection of good ideas in firearms industry (from AK47 mag latch to Savage collar nut), didn't Marlin do the same recently with their XS & XL7s?

If the RCMP say they aren't going to enforce the regulation in such circumstances, that's helpful. It doesn't mean no one else will, and the courts are certainly not bound by the RCMP's opinions or interpretations, even if based on a learned opinion by qualified lawyers, but as I already said, it is probably never going to come up.

When the LAR 15, 10 round mags first came out, I was also hesitant. A month later I was in a work related meeting with Canadian firearms Centre representatives. At the end, I asked them about the mags. I was told absolutely legal and no problems what so ever. Now unlike Questar I don't have this in writing, but when the firearms centre guys are saying it's all ok right at the beginning (Clearly this wasn't a new issue to him) then I'm extremely confident in using them without risking anything.

I have put both mags interchangeably in both guns, and found no problems so far.
The only difference being a small square hole in the upper forward face of the M14 mags. I think I see a small hook up in the receiver that locks the front of the mag in there. I think this is why you must rock the mag into place.
Didn't seem to mind the AIA mag in the M14 though.

I haven't shot it like this yet, but it didn't come out when I yanked it.
I will try it with some snap caps to check cycling.

I have a beaut of an AIA. Very nicely figured Teak Wood stock. Yup, they are over 13lbs with a scope. So far I am very impressed with it's superior quality.
Very nicely done. Had to have it when I saw it.
