tell me about the Savage 25 - worth buying?

well, I started looking up reviews on the Model 25 and most of the reviews in the last 3 years were pretty positive.

gun does look & function differently than used to, so that's probably what all the nay sayers are about.

however, same price for a EABCO barrel, so still likely to go that route. :)

Where are you getting the EABCO barrel from? It's for your TC Encore or Contender?

hey elim, EABCO doesn't ship to Canada, so I'm looking into costs to get it imported up through Prophet River currently.

I don't have a Contender, just an original Encore and then a newer Pro Hunter.

I knew that I was just wondering if you were going to get raped by Brownells to ship one up here or go a better route like Prophet.

You do know that http://nine35.ca/ brings in MGM barrels now.

I would also look at bringing in a reworked Bellm barrel before an EABCO but that's just me.

There is also these guys based out of Penticton, A z t e c h Armory who can bring in anything you want including all the manufacturers above plus they have a fairly large selection of TC barrels in stock in the US ready for import and their pricing looks fairly good.

I've had nothing but good experience with IRG...however, it was for in-stock or backordered product, not import. what happened to you?

I told 4z73ch I'm looking for two 20 - 22" barrels with a 1-in-9 twist for .22 Hornet in Blue and .22 K-Hornet in Stainless. thick contour/bull barrel preferred.

I'd like to put each cartridge up against each other and see what the differences and pros/cons are. :)

Long story short they shipped me a Contender barrel in the original plastic package that they just threw in an oversize box with no crumpled newspaper or anything and by the time I got it it was all scuffed up, had a couple of deep scratches and a dint at the muzzle from bashing around in there during shipping. They agreed it was damaged and that it was their fault and told me they would give me some money for the damage as they had no new barrels to replace it with but in the end, after many emails and phone calls, they did nothing.

What brand barrels are you looking for? I've had 2 defective TC barrels, both Encore, and will not buy theirs anymore other than a reworked Bellm one. Did you check with nine35 about MGM barrels? Their barrels and chambering are supposed to be second to none.

Have you done triggers and such on your Encores? Both my Contender and Encore are all Bellm'd up and shoot wonderfully. My go to guns for sure. I also have Gettel stocks and forends on both, so nice.

hey elim, no, my guns are stock and have been sitting in cabinet for 2 years. my brother was doing a few things to them, but he passed and they've been sitting in Edmonton at my cousins every since.

gonna get them over to me and then start to tweak, so any recommendations for kits and such I can get a smith to install would be great. I'm all thumbs and a mechanical ninny, so a smith would have to do it for me. :p

hey elim, I'm on the coast...Vancouver Prime (Kitsilano), in fact. :p

if I am ever out your way, I'll take you up on your offer. my buddy and I talk about your offer for the dueling tree you put up about a month or so ago ;)

just emailed Kurt at BELLM and see what happens.

Love Kits, I worked at the big M (Molsons) for many years.

The Steel Challenge stages? Amazingly we still can't get any new shooters to try it out, Oh well, their loss, lol. I'm just on my way out back to let off a couple of hundred rounds at Pendulum, the stage we have set up right now.

Bellm will do you right and lots of info on their site about these guns.

Funny enough, one of the regulars at the range had a .22hornet savage 25 out today.
He has a youtube channel, https://www.youtube.com/user/314299/videos, if he makes a video of the rifle I'll post it here for people information purposes.
Forgot to ask his opinion today.

I know you're not looking for it still friendly, just for people who do a search in the future will likely find this thread. Might as well leave more relevant info.

Well the Swift is not really but I digress.
$575 new for #### quality though, new doesn't mean better these days by the way.
The .22 Hornet is barely above a .22mag, it's finicky to load as already mentioned, and well the 25 is a #### rifle. The .222 is a stupid accurate cartridge, easy to load down or up, easy to source components and factory ammo is even around.
Even if someone's heart was set on the Hornet, I'd say find an older Ruger or CZ, at least they are made half decent.

Don't under estimate the 22 hornet
The biggest advantage to the 22 hornet is its quiet and lightweight hand things wen hunting on foot.
Plenty of deer and Caribou Have fallen to Little 22 hornet
If I was able to get my hands on T/C prohunter barrel chamberd in 22 hornet sumthing like a SS 16 " barrel I would be a happy man

hello elim, for the MGM barrel.

carverk, T/C barrels for the Encore, Pro Hunter and Contender G2 are available. while I was quoted for Encore/Pro Hunter barrels, you could contact nine35.ca and get a quote like I did. :)
