Well, I'm thinking about minimizing the collection, and going to a single gun in each cal.

I've allready decided to go with a buckmark for the .22 (replacing a P22 and a STAR, and a few revolvers)

I've decided to keep my P99 in .40

Now the 9.....

I currently have a P99 Military and an issue Inglis Hi-Power. I love them both (for very different reasons)

The 99 has a fantastic SA/DA system and decocker, and ergonomics are GREAT.
The HP is freaky accurate, and I think I prefer the all steel guns for some reason.

What I'd like is something right in the middle of the two...and the Sigs interest me.
*IF* I were to sell these and get a sig, which model do you reccomend looking at? What is the big differences between the 220,226,229 etc.

Thanks for any info!

WW

The 220 is a single stack (commonly 45 auto), the 226 is a "full size" service pistol and the 229 is a "compact". If I were in your shoes I'd try to get my hands on each. The 220 in 9mm is available, grip size is the same as the 45 (if I remember correctly), the 226 has a double stack grip which doesn't work for everyone, the 229 evolved from the 228 and has some subtle differences in grip size/shape that make it a lot of people's favorite. If your hands are on the large side of normal the 226 is great, if your hands are smaller the 229 will feel better. The 220 in 9mm is a bit of an orphan these days, but they are superb pistols.

it depends,

it all depends on the size of your hands really. the 220 and the 229 i find are a little small for my hands (mine measure 8.5 inches from heal to tip of middle finger.) but the sig 226, (one of which i own) fit like a well tailored suit. it is well balenced and ergonomic and has just the right trigger pull for the size of the weapon. i'd go with the 226, but that is just my opinion.

To me P220 w/houge is bigger than P226 maybe not fatter but still bigger...

If you're going to get a 9mm Sig I'd recommand a P226...but don't overlook 92fs

Just put yourself out of your misery now, and go buy one of each cuz thats what your gonna end up doing anyhow...betcha cant own just one!

Its an addiction...

Don't want to hijack your thread Wrong Way but can somebody post a picture of the 226 and the 229 grip side by side to see the difference. Does the width of the 229 is smaller than the 226? I own a 226R but since I have small hands, maybe the 229 will be best for me...

I have a couple of 226's and was reluctant to get a 229 in 9mm but now it is by far my favorite pistol. The 229 fits my hand better and is incredibly accurate. I'm seriously thinking of importing a 228 now as I can get an extended barrel through Questar. The 228 has the old style folded steel slide without the rail and most everyone on Sig forum raves about them. The slide reduces the weight of the pistol some although I don't find that to be a real concern with the 229.

Big hands: Glock. Medium hands: Glock. Small hands: Glock. Plenty of Glocks to choose from.

*hint*...theres a reason glocks cost less ;)

Seriously...WTF? It's like a rule around here....

Ask about a Sig, HK, walther, whatever...and some newbie will pipe in their valuable contribution of : "Buy a glock"

Just llike rimfire...LMAO. Member: "What do you guys who own the T/C rifle think?" Newbie: "Buy a 10/22"

To the rest of you who are actually talking about the sigs...good info, keep it coming! I'm totally open to other sig suggestions. (BTW, I have smaller hands....but the HP fits me perfectly)

BTW, I have smaller hands....

If your like alot of people you will not like the factory SIG grips, hogue wraparound grips seem even larger than the factory grips, but the hogue panel grips are closer in size ( maybe even a touch smaller) than the factory grips.

Ive got smaller hands as well and Ive got the panel griops on my SIGs and find them just right for me, the wraparound grips are nice as well but I just coulndnt seem to get a decent grip with them.

i have smaller "womanly" hands and found the 229 fit me better, my hand went to the end of the grip (its shorter than the 226) which made my hold on it feel better and be more consistent
