As a fan of anything JMB designed, I've had a long time desire to obtain a nice example of a Remington Model 8 rifle.
I'm intrigued by the recoil autoloading system but I've never been able to even handle one, much less shoot an example.
As a matter of fact, in 30+ years of hanging around gunshops and attending shows, I only recall ever seeing two examples, but in my earlier years I wasn't really interested in obsolete guns so I didn't pay much attention to them (I don't recall ever seeing one for sale on this forum:confused:)
There really isn't even much on the 'net Re; these guns.
So anyway, if you've got one, please tell me about it - are they a rarity?
How do they shoot?
Why can't I find one?
What should I look for in a good used example? (I'm wondering about spring life and such)

I have a model 8-A in 35 remington. Its a great shooter but heavy, about 9lbs. I shot a nice doe last year at about 60 yds and knocked her down pretty quick with 1 shot. I see them at gun shows from time to time in the 400 to 475 range. In fact at the recent belleville show I had one on my table for a guy and it would have gone for 400 in 35 rem.The sight reccomended is a good one with lots of info. Good luck JITC, ps mine's NOT for sale!
