Hi
Soon I'm going to buy a new pistol as my first center fire and I'm looking to find something that satisfy me. The first thing that is important for me is I like to take part in action shooting with that and second is I'll use it for precision shooting in my weekly schedule.
I had Beretta 92A1 and Glock 17 gen4 in my mind and somebody suggest S&W m&p to me and so far I found some interesting features of it but there is just a matter that it is single action therefore after the first shot the trigger weight does not decrease. But I'm not sure about that so I asked the manufacturer and waiting for their response.
Now I want you to tell me more about your experiences and what you will suggest or your practical info about them or suggest me some other similar 9mm pistol that cost about $700 in Canada.
Remain for your suggestions and advices
Ramin

You're going to get a hundred different responses here. You need to travel to your local indoor range and try some of their range pistols or go to the local gun shop and check them out. There isn't a wrong choice so long as it feels well in your hands and fits your requirements. Good luck!

Xd-m, love mine

Sorry, missed the price point of $700. You cant go wrong with the Jerico 941 Baby Eagle, and the M&P 9 is supposed to be a good value but I've never shot one

Another one of these threads?f:P:2: The M&P as well as the Glock 17 are DAO. Same trigger pull every time. The Beretta is DA/SA. You can't go wrong with any of them. All comes down to what you are comfortable with.

Shadow or p226.

I like both those guns but he did say $700. You are at $800-$1200
Just sayin...;)

I don't own a Glock nor really have any aspirations to but based on your criteria, it may be your best option. They are certainly good, reliable firearms and the preferred auto pistol for your competitive initiatives.

if your looking for precision, the only one of the above that comes close is the shadow. for action shooting any of the above will do.

All of them. They are all the best, and in fact each one is better than the last.

All you will get outta this is a bunch of different answers with everyone telling you what they like.

Go to a gun store and handle some, or better yet a rental range and shoot em. It is the only way.

My biased opinion; Beretta 92a1. Ive owned all the usual suspects in this category and like it the best.

Gotta grudgingly agree with this. No one will come close to you in precision if you use a Shadow, for the price range you quoted (and assuming similarly skilled shooters).

I find shadow most accurate at longer distance, but For me Jericho 941 is the ultimate double tup gun on 10 - 15 yards distance. And you can't bit it for $599.

STI Sentry (available in 9mm) ;)

Great for IPSC Classic Division and IDPA Enhanced Service Pistol Division!

And you can't beat a 1911 single action trigger for precision shooting.

Go to a local store and check what they have. Look for the pistol with a grip that suits your hand. Weight and sight should also be considered. Ask your club members if you can try whatever is available. Just buy a box of suitable ammo for your use.

You'll definitely need to handle (and preferably shoot) what ever pistol you are thinking of buying, before you buy it. You'll probably end up with more than one also.

You can get a used Sig 226 for around $700 (new around $950). I like and have a CZ75 as well, but I find nothing to be as balanced/weighted/with perfect ergonomics for me, as the Sig 226.

Each person has different size hands and tolerances, it's up to you to decide which is the best for you. Hold a bunch, shoot a bunch at the club (members) and see what you like.

English must not be your first language. Are you looking for a pistol that has the same trigger action after the first shot, or one that does not?

If yes, your options are a single-action-only type pistol such as a 1911; a striker-fired pistol such as a Glock, Springfield XD, or Smith & Wesson M&P, or a double-action-only pistol such as some models of Beretta, SIG, Para-Ordnance LDA, etc.

If no, you should look at DA/SA models from Beretta, SIG, H&K, CZ and so forth.
