Tell me what you will suggest to me as my new 9mm pistol

I am very satisfied with these:

If you are thinking about competing the weight of the pistol will be an issue. I recall a member trying to lighten his CZ75 SP-01 Shadow for competition... great gun out of the box but too heavy for IDPA matches. Being metal frame you can modify it more than a polymer frame. Ergonomics is a consideration too. I believe Gen4 glock and M&P offer adjustable back straps to fit your hand.

I think the best bang for the buck now is the S/W M&P .40 or 9mm Range Kit. 3 mags, mag belt holster, mag loader, Bladetech holster and lockable case for under $700.

I am completely get the same response and want to go for the same thing, but the only problem is, do you think 10 lbs trigger pull is a bit high? I think it will affect the accuracy seriously. Now I have two options, whether modify the trigger that I don't like since it will change the original structure of firearm and later it is not standard anymore and second changing the trigger that may work or not and will cost about 100 dollars.

From what Im reading (SFRC webpage) the M&P is a double action only as opposed to single and comes with a 6.5 lbs trigger!! Ive shot my friends in .40 and the trigger pull was not an issue at all! My glock 17 has a 5.5 lbs trigger pull in comparison. Both could be lighter IMO but they are still very managable. Its more a matter of personal preference. Have a look at one and try dry firing it if the store will allow!!

if OP guy is thinking of action shooting, and cares to be somewhat competative, then weight of gun and trigger pull is important.
all steel gun is likely to have less felt recoil and less snappy to it over plastic models...
and trigger pull definately has to be reduced and worth the money to do so (By a qualifed gunsmith !!!!) But don't do so till you know what type of shooting you'll do and what the rules for such action discipline you've chosen... you don't want to pay twice to modify trigger pull, cause you rushed to make it nice and light.. also wouldn't do so, till you're more experienced in general, to avoid accidental discharges due to light trigger and you're inexperience.....

all the guns that have been suggested are good.. just need to get hold of them for your personal test drive of them.

It`s different, the S&W website said it has a trigger pull of 10lbs:

Mine new out of the box was just under 6#'s which I think is pretty much the case with the guns at our club. None have been anywhere near 10#s. I installed the Apex Competition Kit from and it is now a very crisp 2.75#'s, which is perfect for me for IDPA. The kit is an easy instal and well worth the money if you plan to compete in IDPA.

Hi
Soon I'm going to buy a new pistol as my first center fire and I'm looking to find something that satisfy me. The first thing that is important for me is I like to take part in action shooting with that and second is I'll use it for precision shooting in my weekly schedule.
I had Beretta 92A1 and Glock 17 gen4 in my mind and somebody suggest S&W m&p to me and so far I found some interesting features of it but there is just a matter that it is single action therefore after the first shot the trigger weight does not decrease. But I'm not sure about that so I asked the manufacturer and waiting for their response.
Now I want you to tell me more about your experiences and what you will suggest or your practical info about them or suggest me some other similar 9mm pistol that cost about $700 in Canada.
Remain for your suggestions and advices
Ramin

there is no such thing as the perfect pistol; its whatever feels right to you. on that line; make sure you shoot whatever you want to buy - looks and paper stats wont tell you a bit about how it will feel in your hand when you actually shoot it...

Hi
Finally I got my pistol; S&W M&P 9mm range and carry kit.
It looks great and the price was really affordable, $725 included tax.
The other thing was so confusing for me was that its trigger weight; there are different versions and it could weigh up to 10lbs (for police version) but the one I got in kit was 3lbs.
Still I'm challenging with the ammo, I can not find round nose lead ammo in Toronto and the only one provides that is SFRC (ammo source) that now they run out of them.

3lbs seems petty light for a regular M&P. How or who measured it?

The gun shop seller told me so and in comparision with my other guns it feels right.

I suspect it is more like 6#s. Unless you measure it with a trigger pull gauge you won't know. Gun shop folks aren't the best source for information from my experience.
