Tell me!!

Oh that's a handsome rifle! 7x57 is a good cartridge. The R version is the same but rimmed for breech loading. 140gr bullets should be plenty for caribou and sheep, 160+ for moose. I'm really partial to the 175gr bullets for moose and elk, despite the increased bullet drop they absolutely hammer game.

It is coming with 150 some brass and dies as well! I found today at our only gun shop in the territory some 175gr nosler Acubound and a box of 156gr Norma oryx ammo! Looks like those oryx are traveling at 2622fps off the muzzle and with a bit of research I think I can get the 175gr go around 2400fps! That sounds pretty good to me up to 200m!

oryx will do good.

best to contact brno or cz factory and asks them about it.

I’ll try that when I have the rifle in my hand and access to serial numbers!
I asked sports lodge kid there what they had for non steel waterfowl ammo he said that there is only steel allowed for waterfowl….. I told him he was wrong and I said there is other material used like tungsten mane bismut and then he had a huge question mark in his face and he responded keep it simple and use steel… I said not in some guns lol!!

the lodge has been interesting if you know what you need ... now you re asking to have hunters to sell hunting stuff and having some knowledge ...

the first time i worked there a guy was asking for a cheap knife for moose hunting: i gave him a mora knive and he complained i had no clue what i was talking about go figure ...

Now that Tammy is gone I feel like no one really has a clue of what is what and so forth!! There is one guy in there that is really nice but not really confident…. And there is 3 others that are really confident but they lack the nice part lol!

We are friends and close neighbours, and he has seen my BRNO combination gun here a few times. It is the same 305 as what he has coming in 7X57R/12Ga, but I put a Leupold on it in QD rings from EuroOptic. It also has the extra 12/12 shotgun set.

I have used 3031 with 145 gr Speer spitzers, and Re19 with 175 gr Norma round nose soft point. Both loads shoot to same POI at 200 meters, but the 175 gr is so reliable on game I settled on it.

Did they ever make these in 8x57jrs? Would be great for the kind of deer hunting I do

Apparently they did. I have seen pictures and writings about them , but never handled one.

The 7x57R is very effective on bears and our huge AK-Yukon moose, so if you can't find one in 8mm, don't be too concerned about using the seven.

No concerns!

I just bought an 8x57jrs single shot a few months ago and I’m trying to streamline my reloading stuff a bit (to no avail).

I have only ever seen them in 7x57r online and at gunshows
