Tell us about your 'oddball' shotguns

Well, I've got two shotgun that could qualify as "inexpensive odd-ball"...

First, the Old stuff... A Marlin take down pump. It's been sitting in the project box, untill I decide to get involve in Cowboy action shooting!

Second, the "new odd-ball", A TOZ 21-12. I guess it's the russian version of the auto-5. I never fired an real Browning auto-5  But the design really does a good job at tamming recoil. And for a little over $300, they were a pretty good deal :D

Ooooh tell us more about the Darne! Do you have pics? That is a VERY cool action.

I don't have any pictures of the Darne I had. I didn't keep it for very long.
It was a field grade 16 ga with an arrow straight stock. The stock had absolutely no cast or camber, which made it feel very strange.
It was a very light gun as well, not much if any, over 6 lbs.
Once I got used to the peculiar loading and extraction, it was a good field gun, I foolishly traded it away for a Parker. I hated the Parker so it didn't last either. I have been watching for another Darne that I could afford but I haven't found one yet and it has been more than a few years.

Who sell Toz guns in Canada? That recoil operated Toz is just odd enough that I may have to have one.

I'd wonder how that Burgess behaves while on the shoulder. Wouldn't it feel kinda cramped, having that already bent right arm bend some more, and possibly throw the action off your cheek?

Nothing more exotic than a Remington Model 10 trap grade.

Is that the one on the right??
HihiHi CCIC looks more like a 4ga.:dancingbanana:
Just kidding I realy love those remingtons.

I just recently inherited a Savage 775a in 12 guage. I did some tinkering with it, got it working good and have since put a couple of boxes of shells through it and love it. I was never a huge semi fan, but after shooting it, it sure has grown on me!
I don't like the fact that it's hard to find parts for it, but I do love the fact that it's different than every other one I see.

Damn I setting here with a mod 183 D L in 410,can we send guns to Canadians from the states?

They are about 70.00 dollar guns here!

I'd send it free if you fiqure a way to pay postage!!!

Have a bolt action Kessler 20 guage made in the 1940's/
My uncle gave it to me when I was just a kid.
When I got it, it was painted pink.
My uncle bought it that way off of a fellow who painted it that colour to match his duck blind.
When I was 12 or 13 I refinished it, not the greatest job but I haven't re-done it because it was my first attempt with my first gun.

I still have my first shotgun which my father bought new in the 1930's in Brantford, Ontario. It's a Savage single full choke that would whomp my young butt. The trigger guard got broken before it came to me so I fashioned one from a hose clamp and painted it black.

I also have an old Cresent double that was a hardware branded gun, mine is badged Bellmore Arms. That one and an old percussion double, Civil War era, are wall hangers. They go well with my collection of old wood duck decoys.

My current grouse gun is an oddity too. It's a Savage/Fox double in 20 gauge that had it's barrels docked to about 22 inches and screw-in chokes installed. With skeet choke in right and I/C in left it's a handy up close brush gun but I'm still able to miss the fast buggers with it.:)

Sorry about the late response Bob yes it would be fun indeed if we could but I do think that a Mossberg in 410 would be to much of a treath for the Canadian Safety.

Thanks Bob realy appreciate.:)

Franchi ---LAW 12-------------9 round semi auto . Outlawed here in the states by Bush #1 by executive order-----he also outlawed its brother --SPAS 12 and the street sweeper. I aptly named my LAW -12 my Bush1gun. I also have a Rea-gun, clintguns, and bush2guns. ---------------Ok, I'm a Yank who like my Tim Horton neighbors to the north.

BTW. I can shoot off 9 --2.75 rounds in under 3 seconds------although I'm standing about a meter back from where I started shooting. I swear I don't step backwards, but I some how end up there after squeezing out that many rounds as fast as I can pull. Barrel is 21 " long and weighs less than 7 pounds empty. One of my favorites.

Savage 775A(with superchoke) - 12g
Savage 755A(mod.) - 12g

These were esstentially the same gun with the 775A having an alloy receiver.
Both work well - get them out to the range a few times each year .. heavy as a ton of bricks.

Winchester 24 - 16g

still do a ten-miler with this baby & brings down the grouse with style and grace.

Cooey 84 - 16g

love the old wood/grain in this one - was grandfather's - one walk a season with it now!
