Are you thinking that despite having bolt action upper and non interchangeable lower, it could easily fall prey to the “variant” interpretation? Since it is able to accept some peripheral components, albeit in a manual bolt operated version.

I don't know what you mean by non-interchangeable lower. The AR-15 by design separates into an upper and lower receiver that are not mated together.
If you are talking about taking an actual AR 15 receiver set and modifying it to be bolt action, then it isn't even an issue of variant. Its still an ACTUAL AR-15. You can handcuff a turtle's arm to its leg so that it can't swim, its still a turtle.

Look at the DA 50 upper for AR15's, 2 pins and slap it on a AR15 lower. 50 BMG single shot bolt action. BUT It's still a AR15. In order to be NR, it had to have a totally different lower machined from scratch and a mod done to the upper. I can weld up a SKS gas port, call it a straight pull. But it's still a SKS, not going to stop it from a semi auto ban.

Well if it was a SEMI AUTO ban, then not being a semi auto might actually save it. Unless they ban CONVERTED semi-autos as well. Which they probably would.

Well they would ban by name. Welded SKS gas port is still a SKS.

Guy converted a SKS to manual operation, wanted to get it reclassified, figured he could sell a boatload of bolt action rifle magazines that would just happen to fit SKS rifles. SFSS shot him down, so to speak.

Well... they did ban a 22lr rifle with a plastic shell that makes it ressemble an AR15...

Argh yes, good point. And the RCMP is making a full time job of adding stuff on an almost daily basis.

No I meant that the Maple Ridge Arms upper and lower and associated parts were built to match each other, and were manual operation only by design, and neither can be mixed with an AR upper or lower. But then again so was the ATR series of rifles that were quickly added to the prohib list.......

I wasn’t thinking that simple modifications to an AR to merely disable the gas system would change the rifles designation, but looking at the possibility of swapping peripheral parts other than the upper and lower receiver to something designed as a manual operation platform.

Maybe it’s time to jump on the next T2K that shows up in the EE, but I might be waiting a while.

Below is a video of Spectre's prototype LPC in action. Note that the charging handle on both designs is ambidextrous.

The bolt operation looks pretty sticky

This was the un-anodized prototype. Spectre specifically said they would need to anodize the receiver to prevent wear. Presumably between the anodizing and further refinement of the prototype, the action will have smoothed. I'm sure the community is looking forward to videos of the final product in action
