I have an somewhat immediate need to temporarily store my restricted firearms off my property. I've arranged to do it at a local gun store. I've applied for a short term ATT through the Individual Web Services Site. How long can it usually take for them to approve the application?

I did it by phone once in my life (moving into a motel temporarily). The lady was annoyed that I didn't give them 2 weeks notice (!) but they got it to me within a couple days. I would give them a call or it will probably take a couple weeks...

You can get a STATT to a gun store immediately. The alternate storage application can take a little while but my only experience is with another person, not a licenced business. Mine took a month.

Just wondering, because you are taking it to a local gun store, temp storage may be less of an issue or maybe it is something that can be processed concurrently. I've taken restricteds in for repair to local gun stores and they've sat there for months waiting for a unique part etc. All I had was the STATT, but a least the CFP would have it on record that the guns were transported to the store.

Give the CFP a call and they should be able to help.

The end result is the short-term ATT came through in less than a day with more favourable time frames than requested. The only issue was downloading the form itself. Disable any ad or pop-up blockers to get the PDF to come through. Also, they do not notify you when the ATT is issued so you have to keep checking the Individual Web Services site to see if it's approved.
