I don't think there is enough room inside the slide for a spring. The bar is a disconnector; the little trigger pusher has nothing to push upon and the sear is absolutely safe until the slide closes completely,
while I'm at it.
the transfer bar ..or "teeter totter" that presses down on the sear when pushed by the upward motion of the trigger bar,
is it supposed to have a spring under it that keeps it in the.."off" position?

The transfer bar on the MkIII's are spring loaded for the firing pin block. MkII's do not have this.
