Tensioned barrel

In my search for a HB barrel for my 10/22, the option of a 'tensioned barrel' was mentioned. I understand the concept that the tension is supposed to reduce harmonics which will improve accuracy but do they make a large difference in real world applications? FWIW, I opted out due to the increased cost and purchased a SS fluted barrel instead.

In a word "NO" , this has been around for many years and tried on center fire rifles as well. For benchrest accuracy you will do well with a custom heavy barrel.
