Terrible group with Rem Managed Recoil

I bought a box of Remington Managed Recoil rounds for my '06 so I could let my 10 yr old shoot it. I took three shots just to see how it printed and they were all over the place. This was my first trip to the range with my rifle since last hunting season so I figured something was out of line or loose. I fired three rounds with 150 grain Hornady Interbonds and they were sub 1". Two rounds were thru the same hole. I went back to the managed recoil round an shot two rounds...they were 4" apart. Looks like my Savage doesn't like these rounds. Guess I better break out the reloading gear and find a reduced load that works. Either that or buy a new 7mm-08 for "my boy"

How does your 10yr old hold the gun properly...? C'mon dad time to cough up some bucks and buy a youth model firearm for the lad...

My 10 yr old is 5'3" tall and weighs 125 lbs. we've looked at youth models and he is too big for them or they barely fit. I have a hard time giving up the $ on a gun that won't fit him next summer. Believe it or not he shoots very well with my muzzleloader so I'm just going to let him shoot that for now (1 Triple 7 pellet behind a 250 grain SST while he gets used to the recoil). He's also shooting of a sandbag too so no concern of having to lift the rifle on his own.

Ah Sask boys...I should of known! Get the reloader out and try some 125 grain slugs...Your gun and your son might appreciate it...

When my boy was 10 he was shooting a 308 loaded with a mild charge of 3031 under the Sierra 125 SP. he used it for target rifle competition out to 600 yards. Would not shoot beyond that.

Many GGNrs have put their Savage into a after-market stock, so you should be able to buy a factory stock cheap that you can cut down for correct length.
