Good day everyone,

I am wondering if anyone knows of an outfit that can either test hardness and composition, and then potentially heat treat a bolt action receiver. I have found a couple places south of the border, but I'm hoping to avoid all the headache involved with that. Thanks in advance!

Testing is as easy as finding a guy with an X-Ray gun at a scrap yard.

OK, i think it's actually an X-Ray Florescence Gun, but whatever. He can tell you EXACTLY what the Alloy is!
And and find a guy that has a hardness tester.

The real question, is, what are you trying to accomplish?

Barry at Bits of Pieces in Delta as well as Markin and Weber in Kelowna can get it all done in a reliable/accurate manner.

Contact Oskar Kob. He's an expert with the correct equipment. I regularly send him gun parts to test for hardness on the Rockwell scale. Peace of mind. Don't fool around with internet opinions.
