Not sure who will let you try the gun but fit is definitely important for shotguns so it would be best to go to a shop that has a staff member that is highly knowledgeable in shotgun fit so he or she can check to see if the shotgun fits you. They will likely have to correct your shooting stance as well as how you mount the gun because it can't be determined if the gun fits you without already having proper shooting techniques. Someone who is knowledgeable in this field will be able to tell if a gun fits you or not in just a few seconds after mounting the gun.

For $1500 I think you should sacrifice your 30" barrel requirement as $1500 won't buy you much especially in target guns. The Akkar Churchill 206 Sporting has 32" barrels and available with or without adjustable comb. For $1500 you could get a nice Italian game gun with 28" barrels like Fausti Conrad or Bettinsoli. There is nothing wrong with clay shooting with a game gun. The basic idea of clay shooting is to put your shot in the right place at the right time and you definitely don't need a sporting gun to do that.

Good point. I am kind wondering what model of bettinsoli you can get in Canada for $1500 or less ? New or used? They are rarely seen in Canada I think. Don’t see them in dealers inventory ...

Italian Sporting Goods is a business member and last time I was at the shop they had a Bettinsoli which was $1449.99 I believe. Nice gun. I'm sure if you send them an email they will send you pictures of it. It's not in their website.

Have a look at Gagnon Sports website. They brought in a pile of Bettinsoli years back and may still have a few. They are decent guns. As an aside, Bettinsoli makes the Franchi O/U’s for Beretta.

Indeed they have. Thank you! My concern is They are not popular in Canada, I am afraid resale value would be under appreciated....are the high end model as good as a beretta silver pegion , you think?

I don’t know if you’re interested or not, but I have a mossberg 500 crown in 20 gauge with a lot of ammo a(factory) and a reloading rig. It was my first shotgun and was good for clays and sport, I used it for a few years. You could come by and try it out if you like, but I might stay away from o/u’s for the first one just because they take some getting used to in my experience. They are best when you can get out of the lower end/starter models, but you might find something you like, just throwing it out there.

TGD in MacAdam NB is a stocking dealer of bettinsolli shotguns . and at times have one in their used inventory . they seem to have descent resale value . as they seem to move them along quite quickly . at the asking price .

Bettinsoli does a terrible job at providing information about their shotguns. And not just in Canada, but globally. I have resorted to Google translations of Danish and Hungarian vendor websites trying to find out about some of their guns. From what I can see, they look appealing, but the inept marketing of the guns makes me doubt the availability of parts and support in the near and long term.

I'm sure its been said more than once in this thread, but FIT is important above all else, more important than brand. A $3000 Citori is no good to you if you are going to be fighting it for as long as you own it. Lots of information on the internet about proper fit, but its hard to beat the simple test of closing your eyes, snapping the gun to your shoulder, and opening your eyes. Brownings and Berettas tend to have very different stock dimensions, with Berettas typically being higher in the comb.

Go to gun stores, shoulder different brands and models, narrow down you choices, then decide whether to buy new or used.
