I highly doubt the OP is talking factory loads, so your comparison is not valid. Out of one of my .270's I have 130g TSX moving on average 3150fps from a 23" barrel.
 
That was a medium load. Still 2grs below max. 72grs books 3411. I should get 3350+. Just wanted to try out the Chrony, and it looks spot on. I think I might take her deer hunting next week instead of the .30-06 :)
 
Remember...chronys Lie:) Try this little test some time. Early AM, Noon, late evening test on the chrony with your base load. You may find some interesting info there. Difference between a cloudy day vs a clear day also affect things.

Do not rely on the numbers so much as the SD and ES your loads produce when doing the testing. It will also provide some good insight into max loads found typically when the additional FPS drops as you increase powder. Excellent tools but they come with some grains of salt. Id say if you are +/- 50-100 fps on any given day....call er good.

I was not referring to the OP but to H4831 who said that the wby load was only about 100 fps faster than standard 270 win loads. Most standard loads I have seen for the 270 win are all around 3050 fps which is why I mentioned the 130 ttsx factory fps.

That's ok. We folks that actually have owned and load for the Wby know it is 200-250fps faster ;)

I said your load was about 100 fps faster than a standard 270. Period. End of what I said.
I did not say --standard 270 Winchester loads.
My 270 Winchester loads also go in the 3150, or so, range, about 100 fps slower than the figures you gave.

As a matter of fact, I have loaded 270wby in the past. Not sure what you think is so special about it but you certainly haven't shown us anything in this thread. Maybe when you get some useful numbers from that new chronograph worth mentioning, not something you got from a reloading manual or the internet, we can compare.

I just started using a crony, so how do you guys check it to see how accurste it is? I did notice 60 gr. of imr 4831 produced lower velocity than 59 gr. with 165 gr. bullets in a 30-06. and this load was 250 fps slower than all the published data i found with a 24" barrel. So do you start with some factory ammo as a base line or what? I do realize every barrel and load is going to have some difference just how much expect.

Hey, glad to hear. So that would mean you know it is more than 100fps faster than the Win, right? Care to share some load suggestions for us pathetic reloaders?

No one said the Wby was special. Some people actually like it. Not that I need to justify anything to you or anyone else. I guess all my load notes going back 15yrs must have all come from the internet...:rolleyes:

Just for you, I will make sure it is with one of my Weatherby's. I forgot that only big game kills count. My varmint kills must have been paper Laugh2
 
I wouldn't say huge. I posted his first name as I have met him personally, I didn't post his full name, address and phone number.
