Testing the FG42-repro

In the video, he DEFINATELY loads 20 rds into the mag...

Here's a picture of it, it was at Wolverines table @ the Calgary Gun Show for sale...

Pistol grip is slightly different than the one in the vid I think, very steep angle to it.

* ATRS has something cooking that I want though... And rumour has it it'll be $3000 cheaper, unlimited belt-fed .3XX cal, and American made...

May have miscounted the rounds as I watched the operator loading. Then again its not uncommon to load one less than capacity to avoid misfeeds. Did that all the time with the Sterling, maybe the FN C2 as well - can't remember.

Om nom nom. I'd give up a lot of christmases to see this crate under a tree...

IIRC, this one is more similar to the first version of the FG42, later the grip was changed to the slacker angle one we saw in the vid. FWIW, I prefer this version with the steel buttstock and severely angled grip, purely for appearance's sake... VERY nice

I know where there is a used one with two crates of ammo a guy just might part with Pm me if you need it. Handled it. Are they ever a wonderful piece of artillery and if I could I would. These repros will be worth 50 k. The originals are over 150k and in museums. The repros in the us which don't fire are made in japan are 4k. These repros in Canada are at least made in germany and almost exact replicas of the originals. Just fascinating pieces.

Nice. I was walking down the firing line at my range in the fall and lo and behold, there was one of the first style FG42 repros lying on a shooting bench. I just stood and gawked at it until the owner showed up and offered to let me shoot it. It was much more particular than I was expecting (you have to hold it just so to avoid injury), but it was a neat experience.

I had mine on the range last week. Amazing piece of engineering. It is very ammo sensitive. No surplus or Berdan primed cartridges. The 139gr Privi did not cycle the action. One mag won't seat, but that can be fixed with a file. The ejection whacks the mouth of the empty, and throws it 30' to the side. If I get it running right, it might just come out for the milsurp matches at EOHC/EOSC.

Keep us posted? I would love to get a good look at or possibly handle a FG-42.

Heck, even if you don't get it running right, bring it anyhow, so that we can drool on, er, over it!

There IS a legal semi auto only version available, just like the DB-38 etc. I believe it is even the same company. I am also pretty sure that someone actually brought one in. I don't remember who,(Wolverine?), but it was $10,000+ and I don't know if it ever sold.

Was there not a semi auto version for sale on EE a ways back?
I remember seeing it.
It had the box it came in and everything, buddy was asking upwards of $9 K.
Must have been the same one.
I don't know if it ever sold. It was one of the first adds I ever saw here on CGN on the EE and I distinctly remember getting an erection and then vomitting when I saw the price hahahaha
