I tried a search on this and nothing came up. Seems my buddies dad has this 12ga. Texan press in his basement with everything to make at least 700 or more rounds except powder. The only problem is we need new powder bushings for it. I know the press is over 20yrs old,or more, but can I still buy powder bushing for it????

I think they closed in the late 70's. A little digging suggests that maybe some MEC parts will interchange - maybe worth contacting them. Otherwise, know any machinists? ;)

Hey, I have 12 ga. Texan reloader also! Bought it from Reliable Gun & Tackle in 1964 :) In mine the shot bushings are 100% interchangeable with the ones in my MEC 20 gauge loader. The MEC powder bushings also work but are a little sloppy. This doesn't really matter as the powder funnel centers on the bushing and the bushing will still only fill the given volume. Once you've figured out the loads you are going to use, find the MEC that throws that charge and try it in your charge bar. The Texan makes great reloads. I still use mine to load 2 5/8 in. shells for my A.H.Fox.

Great to hear how well the Texan works. I am guessing the one my buddy got is as old as yours. The good news is that i just found out he also found the original bushings, so I guess now this whole thread I started is now moot lol. These loaders have just been collecting dust, so my buddy and I figured we will learn how to use them and figure out what powder we need to make shells.

Here is a pic of some of the old wads we found. Not sure how long ago people stopped using those kinds of wads, but I am guessing its quite a few years back.

Do you want to load shells to hunt with or shoot clay targets with, powders for targets include IMR 700X, Hodg Clays. For hunting try Longshot, or Universal. FS

Oh, I figured they did not even use these anymore. Do you think there is any difference in performance???? I know sh!t all about reloading shells lol. Will have to find out what powder to use also.

Absolutely, and they won't be the same out of different guns. Ya gots ta pattern 'em.

We will be using the shells to shoot clays.

Good thing I do not hunt in game preserves in the states lol We found a box of plastic wads hidden in the basement also. Also have a huge bag full of hulls. What is the life expectancy of these things, because they must be pretty old?
