Texas cheerleader's 'big game' hunting photos enrage animal lovers-cbc

Boy does she hit a nerve with some people...

Indeed she does. It's kinda annoying me to read those comments. Some people doesn't even know where the meat at Supermarket come from, heaven maybe ? I'm not a hunter but by no mean I'm against her on that. Each of those people who comment on her page should take a hunting course, there will be eyes opening for them.

Man I can only dream of doing that. Good for her.

On a side note, I did comment on it. Still waiting for a reply on this one.

Me

Nice shooting! Ignore all the stupid people who didn't read the article. Just goes to show that the people who are against hunting and shooting are the exact people who should not own firearms. Yes you idiots that said she should be shot. If us gun owners are as " deranged " as you say, there would be none of you left anyway.

Judy ###xx the typical uninformed anti.

Picture is worth a thousand words.. No need to read anything - you're outnumbered - how many children will die tomorrow by gunshot? How many died today? Do you know? Look it up... Guns and people like you are one of the world's worst problems.

Me

What? Okay well here is the egg on your face then. Maybe you should do some research. You may take note of the actual government facts where firearms are much less than half of all homicide. People will kill people with what ever tools they have. Notice strangulation is even on there. So maybe go cut off your hands so you don't kill someone or post more uninformed information. Since stabbings and beatings are way up there too maybe throw out your kitchen knives and any other blunt object like bats, lamps, tire irons, etc. Oh and one of the world's worst problems? I work five days a week and have been a volunteer firefighter for 10 years. I fail to see how that makes me one of the world's worst problems. I was thinking maybe world hunger? Pollution? Civil wars in foreign countries? Those must be up there no?

Well done..

No problem with guns... no problem with hunting... but trophy hunting is passé and a little on the douchie side IMO.

However the ONLY way to preserve wild game in Africa is by monetizing the game. To the locals in Africa, all the lions, tigers and elephants are just vermin that eat their kids. their livestock, and elephants that destroy their meager crops.

They WANT the poachers to get rid of every one of those wild animals. A relative was told by villagers in Zimbabwe they would use elephants to clear minefields. They would herd them through areas were they wanted to farm to see if there were any mines there.

However, if they gave villagers a portion of the trophy fees, they would feed their kids to the big cats to keep them healthy for trophy hunting. Poaching would also stop, because the villagers would see to it.

As for my comment about the villagers feeding their kids to the lions? I'm not joking. On one mine site in Africa, all the vehicles were restricted to 15km/hr. Why? Because part of the development agreement was that if a local was killed in an accident, the family would get $1,500 compensation. When the villagers figured this out, they started throwing their kids in front of mine company vehicles so they could be run over/killed so they would collect the compensation.

Tell me, what do you think they would do if they received $3,000 dollars for a lion to be trophy hunted (out of the $7,000 to $10,000 fee)?

Got into this one over the last day or so, a buddy forwarded the link. Spent way to much time fighting anonymous people who don't want to bother to even read the article attached to the photos on Facebook. All worth it when one finally came back with 'thank you for being an adult about this situation and for teaching me something today'. Also noted: apparently legal hunting practises shouldn't be on Facebook but death threats are OK...as long as your on PETA's side....

Ive heard the whole argument for and against this kinda thing (Joe Rogan Podcast with hunter Steve Renilla - Check it out!) and it has its good side I suppose... but nah... too douchie for me. You wanna fly half way around the world, pay 50K for a canned hunt, the animal is handpicked, old, sick and endangered, then go nuts posting it all over social media. Just seems weird.

Wow that's quite the ignorant post. What animals that were killed were endangered? How is it a canned hunt? Old and sick? Old maybe which is the animal you want to remove from the population. Your post comes off nearly as uneducated as those who posted on this girls Facebook page. Most of those people that are slamming her would say that owning firearms is passe and douchie so keep that it mind. Everything she hunted was legal, that is the key to remember.

How would one go about getting on her page (or whatever it's called) for a show of support from us other hunters instead of the greenies having all the say?

Actually Hoyt, I think it's a real good thing, not sure her motive is fame, but to have a hunting show hosted by a young lady from the next generation of hunters might just be one of the best things that could happen to hunting in NA and maybe even worldwide. I guess it will all depend on how she comes off on camera, with a good producer and some good advice on language and sensitivities she could be a great advocate for hunting.

If you have Facebook click the menu on the left. Under search type in her name kendall Jones. Hers is the first to appear. Click on her name and hit like. That gives u access to her time line and photos. U can comment and post on her wall

You clearly don't understand what you're talking about. You need more education before you shoot you're mouth off.

Wow, is the CBC isn't even trying to hide its bias on this one, using words like this up front:

"A Texas teenager...activists seething...posing with the corpses...killing creatures herself in an effort to become a television star (like really? Maybe she has other motives??)...killing elephants, cape buffalos, maned lions, leopards and hippos — all of which can be seen dead in photos next to a smiling Jones...You hunt to kill innocent animals...You are a despicable human being....I wish you the worst....There's a special place in hell for despicable human beings like you...sick bimbo..."

and then:

"stupid white trash..."(try that one in a different context!!)

Or better yet, condoning death treats:

"Praying that one of your TARGETS ends up KILLING YOU instead!!!! Pray one day SOON!!! LOSER!!"

And to make sure the are 'the majority' agree with them, they add the inevitable internet condemnation (shudder)...an on-line petition:

"Nearly 60,000 people have already signed a Change.org petition to ban Jones from entering Africa, and more than 150,000 are petitioning Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to take down her fan page on Avaaz.org."

Heck, they even give you the web address so you can sign up!!

I did do my research. Read the article... Listened to a podcast on this type of thing, been hunting a little myself, hell I've even been to Africa. It's just my opinion, it was legal sure, however its probably legal to do a lot of things there with a little coin that maybe shouldn't be legal. No I don't have a phd on the subject sorry, it's about as educated as I care to get on this. If you think shes awesome for legally trophy hunting endangered animals in a third world country cool, what do I care, go sign her fan page.

There is a thought that organized hunting, and getting healthy revenue from it thereby providing a reason to counter poaching, might just save those endangered species was researched by you as well? Na, what do you care.

If that's as educated as you care to get I feel bad for you. Legal hunting in Africa is th eonly reason that there are any animals left anywhere in Africa. Look at Kenya which closed legal hunting in 1977. What's the status of their elephant and rhino populations? That's right. How about countries like Namibia with a robust sport hunting industry? Exactly. Honestly your comments on here sound very similar (albeit lacking the vitriol) of the antis on the CBC comments section.

But don't lets facts interfere with a well-formed opinion based on nothing at all.
