TFB Gun Review: Beretta ARX-100

Could the ARX100 been made in the USA? As I was at the Beretta factory a few weeks ago in Italy. The ARX160 that I handled had a nice two stage trigger with a bit over about 5 pounds of a trigger. It was taken down faster than my M4! The short bolt handle did not seem to be a problem for me or the others with me.

If the NR option (if there will be one offered) would be ~$1500, I'd be interested.

Of course, if the US MSRP is at $1500, might as well tack on another $1000......

All Beretta ARX100 are made in the United States. I find it strange that a ARX160 would have a 2 stage, 5 pound trigger pull. Generally military issue rifles have a heavier trigger pull to help prevent against accidental discharges. Maybe the one you got to play with had the trigger well broken in. Or maybe it was a updated model.

Great shotguns and handguns with rich, unhurried system development over decades.

This, less so. The ARX-160 to ARX-100 apparently had a rushed development cycle -- hence rail stability issue, mag compatibility issues (other than USGI's), heavy mil trigger issues -- but still looks like a promising platform once these minor problems resolved. Maybe wait for Gen2.

There is no rail stability issue. A batch of rifles were released with a missing pin that locks the rail to the receiver. Beretta has fixed this problem and customers who are missing the pin can have onesent to them. Regarding the magazine compatibility, the ARX100 has three magazine release buttons which necessitated a different shape magwell than the AR15. However, Gen 2 Pmags and Lancer magazines work fine.

I've played with one and really like it. Will probably pick one up at the end of the year.

That's exactly what happens with a rushed development cycle. Issues identified and resolved *after* product release. The roll-pins were made available to customers only after the unstable rail was identified by LAV.
Gen3 Pmags don't work. The overinsertion stop for AR's is incompatible with the ARX100 magwell without modification.

The review didn't seem that negative to me. The rifle ran fine the second time, accuracy was meh, the charging handle is too short, sights are bad, and trigger was heavy.

I don't like the look of the rifle, but for someone considering it - sights can be changed, hopefully the aftermarket will fix the trigger & charging handle.

Yes. Hopefully ^^. It looks like someone might need to make a wider aftermarket charging handle somehow.

I'd like to see a longer handguard and beefier barrel available. As said earlier--Gen 2 anyone?

Although I'd buy one if I could as I love black rifles...

LOL, Everyone rags on Keltec SU16 cuz its cheap plasticky feeling gun, yet Beretta comes out with the same stuff and everyone is giving it the old "well, its not too bad..."

The damn magwell flexes!!

I had a chance to hold the 22LR version of the gun and am thoroughly not impressed that it has the Beretta name on it. I can see Keltec name on it as that level of quality, or lack of, is expected for that price point. $1500 gun, not so much.

The system integration with the GL and the mechanical design of the rifle are great. The plastic is no worst than the g36 and the FN plastic guns. It Is pretty solid.

They need to come up with a SCAR like stock quickly so people can get the proper cheek weld. No one shoots with stock folded anyways, not even soldiers and the super speed guys. No one cares if the stock is blocking the ejection port when folded.

The same reviewer said the su16 is fine $450 rifle. ha, what are the su16fx models in canada going for now? $1200?

Whats the price in US again? Sub 500's...So yea, it is a 500 dollar gun...just because Vault with the exclusivity shafts Canadians is a secondary issue. With original price, for the money it WAS a good gun. TBH, There are tons of better quality guns now in the 500 range. The VZ58s go for $500 in US and that is a screaming deal for that quality of rifle. AR's, AKs etc can be had for similar price, and yet, SU's are constantly sold out everywhere...

If the SU was 1500, i wouldnt buy it, if it was a 1000 i wouldnt buy it, heck i bought mine used because i wouldn't pay new prices as i didnt believe its worth it, just like i dont believe Mini14 is a $800 rifle.

With that being said, both my SU16 and Sub2000 have hundreds of rounds through them without any issues.

This was at the plant August 27th:

It was easier to disassemble than a M4.

The QC issues might have to do with American workmanship! What I saw of QC at all the production facilities of Beretta in Italy this trip, was always top notch!
