Following my interest in the 6.5 caliber ( Icon 6.5 Creedmoor ), i did order from Tradeex a very nice Swedish Mauser Sporter in 6.5 X55 rifle, as stated by Anthony the rifle is fully restorable to almost perfect, the blue is very good and al metal is flawless, the most to do will be on the stock, already strip the varnish to discover a beautifull kind of tiger striped wood pattern... Once this stock redone it is to be a beauty, and by the way when they say very good bore, i guess they mean almost perfect... Good job Tradeex. Cheers. JP.

There is one left on their site for under 200.00, now that have seeing one i am tempted to grab this one to... Oh well if it is still there in a week i will... Cheers. JP.

i got one from tradex that shot vary well (5 shots in 1.25 inch)but i also got one of there new in the white husky barrels and now it puts five in under9/16 inch

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but can someone explain again what the difference is between the Husky 96's and 1600's compared to a typical '98 mauser such as a Parker Hale or FN? I know that there are design differences, but overall I find the mauser development history just a little bit confusing. I can see a few differences in the "Husky" sticky such as the safety and bolt release being different, but I was wondering if any differences are significant in terms of rigidity, strength, feeding operation etc. Any information would be a great learning experience for me and others! :)

Thanks,
Red

The 96 is a two lug mauser while the 98 has a third locking lug farther back on the bolt which gives it a little more strength. The 98 also has a gas hole in the bottom of the bolt body which supposedly directs hot gas downward into the magazine instead of back into the shooter's face in the event of a burst case or primer. I don't know if the 93, 95 or 96 mausers have this feature.

Thanks Mike, that's what I gathered also. I believe that the Husky 1600's share these design features with the 98's while the 96's do not, as you say. As far as I can tell the 1600's differ from the 98's with a modified magazine, safety (side safety) and bolt release. I don't know of any other differences.

The mauser 98's and 1600's #### on the bolt opening while the 96's #### on
the bolt closing action.
The 96's on closing the bolt require a bit more effort.
