Needless to say I am happy with the new Match Sanction Policy as proposed by the IPSC Ontario BOD at the Club Rep meeting yesterday.

It shows that they are indeed willing to listen to reason and logic. To me that was also a general theme in all of the discussions on a variety of subjects yesterday.

I look forward to the AGM and to helping EESA hold some Level II matches!!

Great day indeed. I am very happy for you EESA :)

This is not a "happy for EESA" issue as far as I am concerned. This is a happy for IPSC Ontario. In my mind it is evidence that the BOD are indeed willing to listen to the membership.

It is a logical policy as far as I can see and will encourage more matches.

I am also happy to see that a MD mentor program is in development.

As well after the AGM today and Euxx's suggestion I hope that IPSC Ontario will move further to embrace Rifle and Shotgun matches. That is close to EESA's heart.

Its been a good weekend and many thanks to the board for making useful changes. Hopefully this means more matches :)

Also a big thank you to the board for agreeing to look at the athlete development process :)

Can anyone get in on this athlete development thing?
I'd love to some day develop into one!!!
:)

Seriously though,
I'm happy to hear positive things happening in our sport.
This thread is way better than what I'm used to reading on here.

you come to the level 3's with me, carry all my gear, clean my mags, and fetch what ever else I may require. In return, after your run on a stage I will belittle you and point out every little thing you did that I didn't like in the most sarcastic manner possible. Apllications must be received by this Wednesday along with the $100 consideration fee, if you are choosen the remaining $900 enrollment fee must be deposited with in 43 hrs or I will go to the next in line. Please include shirt and tutu size on your application

Mr BigAwesome, I'll carry your gear just out of the kindness of my heart.

Do you have gear to carry yet?

Yes it was a very good meeting. It will make for a lot more level II matches which will be very good for the RO's that go out to work a 120 round level I and not get the points they deserve.

Thanks again to the BoD for a very good meeting.

I thought they had to supply their own shirt and tutu? Sometimes you are just too nice.

they thought they were working a 120 round level 2, when the results were posted it was down graded to a level1 becuase the stages were not sent in for sanctioning

Paul, nope not yet :-(

+1... although I see that more as an IPSC problem in general than an Ontario problem. IPSC is way behind USPSA when it comes to, well, everything that isn't a pistol.

Actually, USPSA isn't really big on Shotgun only or Rifle only events. They have 3gun, but it is a different beast all together. Storm is naively pushing too many directions while we need to focus on a baby steps.

There is also of course political issues with 3gun, which for many look more like a military game rather than an athletic sport...

BTW, for the local 3gun events, when people coming there dressed like special force ops from the movies, it is not exactly helping to promote the sport.

I have the opposite opinion, even if it may be unpopular. Plenty of people (myself included) wear camouflage in their every day lives. I think that banning camo/tactical clothing at matches is going too far to be politically correct. It's a shooting match, not a tea party. Who are we worrying about offending?

In my opinion, appropriate dress for a match means anything that is not patently offensive to the participants, and is safe to compete in without worrying about tripping, snagging on something, or getting hot brass stuck somewhere unpleasant. I could care less if you want to look tacticool.

IPSC rule book has the following:

---
The use of camouflage or other similar types of military or police garments other than by competitors who are law enforcement or military personnel is discouraged. The Match Director will be the final authority in respect of what garments must not be worn by competitors
---

Said that, it is not just a shooting match. It is a sport event and it should look as such to spectators. For example, videos of top competitors from 3gun nation or uspsa 3gun nationals are quite representative.

For example, if someone would show up with a cammo face paint at Olympics bow shooting event, they will probably escort him right away from the arena...

I don't care how people dress for IPSC events, for me it is how safe they are. We are shooting in places where there are not many antis watching us anyway, however I myself prefer Techwear garment and shorts. Not big fun of camo unless I go hunting.

Yep I'm aware of what the rulebook says.

Said that, it is not just a shooting match. It is a sport event and it should look as such to spectators. For example, videos of top competitors from 3gun nation or uspsa 3gun nationals are quite representative.

This is sort of the problem. For some people it's "serious competition." To others, we just want to go out to the range and have fun shooting a match.

We're not at the Olympics. In general, even for Provincials, etc., no one is at the range that isn't either shooting the match, with someone that is shooting the match, or helping to run the match. The public isn't going to freak out over my mossy oak hat because they're not going to see it. Even if they do see it, I don't think we should have to hide in the closet and pretend to be something we are not.

The anti-gunners aren't going to accept our sport all of a sudden just because we wear polo shirts and use diamonds for targets. They're always going to be against us just by virtue of there being a gun involved. You're never going to appease them so I say why bother restricting people's dress when in my opinion it doesn't make any difference?
