Thanks all

Looks like a Norwegian Krag Jorgensen in 6.5 x 55. If the bore is still really good, you'll find it is an excellent shooting rifle. My Dad and I have had a couple for many years now. The most slick and smooth bolt action you'll ever find. My dad has dropped a lot of deer with his Krag over the years. His looks pretty much identical to yours including the flattened bolt knob.

Norwegian Krag in 6.5x55 most definitely. The chamber marking should be a K crowned: Kongsberg Vaapenfabrik. The American Krag went out of production about 1904, but Norway kept producing their own version until after World War Two; this is why the 1916 date.

These rifles are super-smooth in operation and that dump-loading feature allows you to load/unload in an awful hurry. With a decent barrel (which mine does NOT have) they can be very, very accurate.

I notice the top of the bolt-knob is flattened. This is NOT normal for a regular Rifle, although it WAS done on certain Carbines. Also, the triggerguard is not standard for an Infantry Rifle; possibly a Ritterkarabiner (Cavalry Carbine).

Infantry Rifle (fodfolksgevaer) had a 30-inch tube. When they were sportered, the original sight hoods were trashed. This one is intact, making me suspect a factory-short barrel uncut.

Anyone out there really know his 94 Norski Gevaer?

Looks like my buddy's Krag right down to the sporter job. When I had a chance to shoot it, it was amazing. I loved loading through the side of the magazine and slapping it shut.
