So it was my 2yo daughters first trip to a gun shop on good Friday, had to wrangle a bit saying to wife "well lets go to the farmers market and while we are there maybe we can pop in to see what is on sale?" I got a tepid response as we had been debating about if 2 was too young to be taken to a gun shop. Anyway we decide to take my daughter in and we both fill out the entry forms for the door prize(s) not really know what they were and trying to manage the little one. Do a quick scan, head to the clearance room, pick up a few essentials and go to the check out. Guys notice daughter in tow and rummage through the "make me an offer box" and find a "brain piggy bank". A little odd, but daughter actually loved stuffing it full so thanks guys!
Now it gets better, I get phone call the other day "Hi this is ### from the TSE, you are ###x? yes...well you won our door prize! a shotgun...you do have a PAL right?". I was a bit flummoxed, "yes I have PAL, and ummm not to sound ungracious, but what kind of shotgun have I won?". "Let me check...its a Hatsan, when can you come in?" Picked it up today, turns out it was a Hatsan pump escort with black furniture, 5 choke tubes and spacers. Oh yea and a soft case, shooting glasses, and some funky green ear muffs.

THANKS TSE FOR MAKING MY DAUGHTERS FIRST VISIT A MEMORABLE ONE! (and reinforcing that only good comes from taking your daughter to the easter sale).

If those ear pro are the green revo ones, take caution... Mine arrived today and broke when I spread them over my daughters head. The plastic clip that holds the earpiece snapped.

Congrats!
I've been taking my daughter to gun shops since she was a baby. She's now 5 and sees guns as a totally normal thing. When we talk about guns she takes them very seriously, but there isn't any fear, confusion or toying around. She knows one day she'll have her own, but until then it's a grown up thing, no biggy to her.
I believe if guns are going to be a part of your family, then it's best to expose your kids to them early. They need to know guns are okay and normal, but that they need to respect them.
Just my experience and opinion ;)

Congrats man! Good on ya for bringing her to the shop. I have yet to bring my kids to my local shop but I plan to.

Couldn't agree more.

Congrats on snagging that shotgun and bringing your daughter to the shop! we are happy that you were able to share this memorable moment with us. Stories like this are proof that shooting is not bad or scary, its a hobby! and something we all like to do and share.
