I was having an issue crushing the ogive near the tips of the Hornady ELDX.

Being a cheap SOB, I decided to see if I could mod the bullet seater on the Lyman Die I was using instead of having to buy the special Hornady die for these things.

After much drilling grinding and polishing, I decided I had succeeded in destroying the seating stem. I contacted Lyman and explained what I had done, and why, asking for a part number to order a new one.

They sent me a new one for free!

This Lyman service parallels similar service I have had from RCBS in the past, and even Lee will on occasion help a guy out.

One of the few industries today that still believes in customer service.

Thanks!

Over the years I have had RCBS, Lee, Lyman, Hornady and Redding equipment replaced free of charge. Usually if you ask politely they will send out replacements at no cost or, at worst, for just the cost of shipping. Not many companies that are as accomodating as the reloading manufacturers.

A few years ago the bronze bushing on my Lyman case trimmer was worn. I asked how much for a new bushing and they said it had to be sent in for installation. I sent it in and told them to let me know how much I owed. I got the trimmer back postage paid with a new bushing installed and no charge. Pretty hard to beat that kind of service.

Similar case here with Lyman.
I have / had a Lyman dial caliber for a long time...all of a sudden, it started to not zero when closed. Sometimes out by 20 thou, sometimes out by 5...it would do it 10 times in a row (not close and zero) then it would close and zero properly the next 3 times. I emailed Lyman and explained what was happening, I was gonna ship it back to the US for them to repair if possible...they responded back within 2 hrs and asked me if my address was still the same as they had on file...I said yes...couple weeks later a brand new one in the mail !!! When the option is available for me to use a Lyman product, I will because of their customer service ! A rare item these days !!

My shooting bud bought a set of RCBS dies to reload 9.3X64 Brenneke from Dennis at Shooter's Den. No shell holder was listed by any of the companies who make these. I know that by trial & error, one could likely be found that would work but Brian, being a fussyass, wanted the correct one! So Dennis calls RCBS, speaks to someone in Customer Service. He was told that particular shell holder is a "Special Order" He said they would make the correct shell holder and send it to Sudbury, ON.
Fast forward to last Thursday.......we are at Dennis' shop to pick up some powder and Dennis puts an envelope on the counter for Brian. In the envelope was a new shell holder with no number but stamped 9.3X64BRENNEKE. Dennis being the gentleman that he is, gave Brian the shell holder at no cost! Dennis's comment was: "RCBS didn't charge me for it and I'm not charging you either". Incredible customer service by both RCBS & Dennis!!!
