Spent this morning pushing up rabbits. The 20 gauge did the trick.
Next time I'll bring a friend........
 
The only thing that ticked me off was the reach of the IC barrel. At 36 yards I just dusted off the feet of another rabbit. If not for that, there would have been three there.
The modified choke has pretty good at 30 yards, for bunny #1. No prob's with bunny #2, he was laid low at 22 yards no sweat with the IC choke.
My wing shooting is terrible, I only knocked tail feathers off a ruffie this morning.
 
heavyer shot will get you a littel more range i start with 6s and move up in shot to 4s or even 2s if needed DUTCH

Is it just me, or are the bush bunnies starting to whiten up? Saw one yesterday, while out walking the hound, and he seemed pretty easy to see, even accounting for the fallen leaves.

Sure thing Trev! It's been a bit too long friend......

And yes the bunnies are turning color. In the early morning the first white I notice is thier ears. The underfur and feet and white as well.

Nice Ithaca SKB. I'm surprised to read the distance you're getting with those chokes. I've always had the pattern open too wide to be all that effective in those choke sizes and distance.

I would stay with the lighter size shot to keep a better pattern of lead. The larger shot can spread open pretty fast. Also, remember a shotgun pattern will drop like a bullet at a distance, so aim a little high above their heads to keep the cluster of pellets at the center of the pattern on target.

You're right about the higher hold friend. On bunny #1 I held a bead high on his head to connect at 30 yards. After the second shot on bunny #1 and I recovered him, I promptly lazed both shooting distances. And the one after as well, meaning I lazed it afterwards. Bunny #2, was almost a dead on hold for the 22 yard shot.

Tonight was a pretty lean evening for rabbits.
Only seen two, and the first one swapped ends pronto when it realized I was watching him. I guess rabbits can backflip! In two seconds he was gone back into the forest.
Number 2 in the picture here, was only a few minutes behind Number 1, but I guess he never got the memo from the first one.

What was even more interesting was that soon after I shot this rabbit. Some big and dark colored animal came close. I tried to get a better view of it, but it quickly ran off, back into the bush.

My best guess, is that it was a wolf.
