None hit my gong but i was scareing it. But it was encouraging! I am going to try to attach a video and Pictures to this post. Hope it works. I am not too computer savy. Later guys, have fun and straight shoot'in!<a href="http://s1121.photobucket.com/albums/l501/darcytyndall/?action=view&current=MySavage110BA.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l501/darcytyndall/MySavage110BA.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I think that might work for the picture;) Not sure how the video was going to work:( Congrats on the shooting!

My load specs are: Winchester neck sized cases, Federal 215Match primers, 70.5gr.R22 powder,210Gr. Berger VLD match/Hunting bullets. The bullets are seated to 0.060" off the rifling. I found this load to be fairly warm, but not too bad (2933fps. Ave{at 10-15 Degrees Celcius}). My loading density is only about 85-90%. Wish it was 95% or more. But it shoots just fine. The concentricity of my rounds are typically 0.003" or less out of concentric. Any more than that, and I set them aside to use at closer ranges. Hope this information was useful "Revolution". Thanks for the compliments guys,it really feels good to accomplish this goal. All I need to do is learn to read conditions better, and hit that darn gong! LOL! Have fun and straight shoot'in guys!

Ever since I was 18 years old I wanted a 50cal. to shoot one mile! I could never save up the money and spend it. I am 43 now. I had the cash three times and had major bills come up that took priority. I found that I just couldnt justify the huge expense! Finally I could afford this Savage 110BA Tactical. I could not afford to shoot the Lapua, but the 300win.mag was affordable. I knew I had to shoot allot to learn this long range game. If I bought the Lapua, I could shoot 200-300 rounds a year, and the gun would collect dust in the safe for the most part. Not enough to really learn how to do this long range game. The 300win.mag is perfect for 'me', I can take it out weekly, and I can get loading supplies everywhere. I never dreamed that the 300win.mag. could do this 1 mile shooting! I have allot to learn! I'm really enjoying this! Next week I may try it at 2000! LOL! Take care, have FUN,and straight shoot'in!

Thank you CanuckWR! My JBM Trajectory Calculations were unbelievably accurate out to 1500! The Shot Card said 48.4 m.o.a adjustment. My actual point of aim was 49 m.o.a. Wow! This shot card was this accurate all the way out from 500-1500yds. Never more than 1 M.o.a out of actual value. But something funny happened though, when I moved from 1500 to 1760yds. My Card gave me a value of 67.0 m.o.a adjustment for 1760yds. The actual m.o.a adjustment I made to shoot my groups at 1760yds. was 71.5. My very first two shots at 1760yds. hit the dirt in front of my target giving me a point of reference to adjust to( they both hit the same spot thats why I used the impact point as a referance). I simply put the rifle on the point of aim of the gong, and adjusted the elevation dial until the crosshairs co-incided with the low impact positions. I counted the extra clicks it took and recorded it. I was right on target then. I dont know why there was such a big change in the info that my shot card gave me between 1500 & 1760yds. The shot card was so accurate before, so my geuss that there was a condition present that I couldnt see or read.

All I have to say is if this sport was easy, it wouldnt be so fun/challenging/rewarding/ & thought provoking. I am learning so much! I do want to try 2000yds. soon. But I wont go past that. I will have to point at the moon by then! LOL! I have load tested with the 208A-Max bullets @ 100yds. They shot very well! I may try to put them through the trials as well. I will see which bullet (Berger 210VLD/Hornady208A-Max.) my rifle prefers.
Thanks again to all you gun nutz for your ideas and motivating discussions! And as always, have FUN and straight shoot'in!

There is a good chance that the big change in drop is because your bullet has gone subsonic.

The drag curve changes massively and ballistic programs don't always make the proper adjustment - ie the data isn't available.

If you get a copy of Bryan Litz book (hint, hint, hint), it will go a long ways to explaining what you are experiencing.

Nothing wrong, just a lack of proper info.

Of course, a puff of headwind would do the same thing but that is another story.

Nice shooting and I would suggest you put as many flags up as you can.

From 1 mile, each 100yds needs a whole lot of up and it gets exponentially more difficult to make hits due to how much the bullet will move with very little change in air. Flag everything.

You'll see and that is all the fun about extreme range shooting.

If for some reason you can't seem to hit what would be a massive target beyond where you are now, the bullet is tumbling and that is as far as it goes.

I have never found a way to predict when a bullet will tumble. I have seen the same bullet shot out of the same cartridge in two rifles where 1 went WAY further then the other.

So point it at the moon and have at her.

Fun, fun, fun...

Jerry

To Mystic Precision: Your sooo right, the hang time is stressful at times! But it is so cool to shoot at these ranges! What a great way to spend a day! I look forward to learning how to dope the conditions more. That way I dont have to wait for days for good conditions. I am trying to learn in good conditions, then advance once I have a solid experience base. Then I will learn to dance with the wind and conditions.
oh, by the way, .......The rifles preformance is SAVAGELY ACCURATE! LOL! They sure shoot sometimes! I like almost all guns, just some I spend more time with. Take care, have fun, and straight shoot'in!

Hello again Mystic Precision. Funny you should suggest Bryan Litz book. I ordered one last week. It will be like candy in a book! LOL! I think that 1900 is probably the limit of this combo. I only put two bullets down range at this distance because I was so excited at reaching the mile marker! I just wanted to share it with my friends. I hit my back board, but I didnt shoot enough rounds to establish a group.(2 shots) They were about 24" apart.
I will put the Hornady 208's through the same trial to see how they do. Do you think they will fly further before going sub-sonic?

Congrats...that is some acheivement you can speak to....If you manage to hit that gong, we might just have to call you bob lee swager. LOL
