Thankyou Gun nutz! I've made it to 1900Yds.

Hows it going Max. Owner? good to hear from you! Our "Launch Pad" is working great! I probably can reach the 2000 with my 300wm, but as you know, We have to move the target location down the hill. The bad thing is that you wont be able to see the miss locations due to the ground being obstructed by the hill. O'well, we'll do it anyhow. LOL! We should get together some time to act as spotters. It is so much easier to have someone watching for you. I also got a great load for my .308win. I'm shooting the 155Gr.Sierra Palma Match, and Varget powder. This is sure fun! Have you checked the links I left on my second post on this thread? I have a video link. Talk to you later bud.

what does a round hole at 1760 mean? My target is tilted to support the gong. Not much mind you, but just enough to support it. I use broken logs in the area to wieght down the support cross brace.

@dthunter, to followup on Jerry's comment, what bc's are you giving JBM? Are you using a G1 bc, a G7 bc, or the "(Litz)" selection from the bullet library? (what you are seeing is probably reasonable to expect if you are using a G1 ballistic coefficient, but would not be expected if you are using G7 or the "(Litz)" data (which BTW is a G7 model))

BTW well done on getting out and shooting at really long range, there are more than a few us us here who are nice and jealous of you.... ;-)

Hello again Mystic Precision. Funny you should suggest Bryan Litz book. I ordered one last week. It will be like candy in a book! LOL! I think that 1900 is probably the limit of this combo. I only put two bullets down range at this distance because I was so excited at reaching the mile marker! I just wanted to share it with my friends. I hit my back board, but I didnt shoot enough rounds to establish a group.(2 shots) They were about 24" apart.
I will put the Hornady 208's through the same trial to see how they do. Do you think they will fly further before going sub-sonic?

With my LR shooting, I shoot alot of Amax vs Bergers. They seem to handle going subsonic better. Definitely worth a try.

Mechanically, the Berger is a much more accurate bullet at shorter distances but when time of flight is equal to drinking cups of coffee, ambient conditions override everything else.

A sub MOA bullet that handles subsonic flight will look real accurate beyond 1 mile.

You will quickly need a mechanical scope base to account for the drop.

My furthest was just under 2400yds with my 6.5 (way too much drop and movement in the wind to call it aimed fire).

Look forward to hearing you have reached that and further.

Jerry

Hello guys! As for nate18, Your comment about me sounding like red green would have offended me if I didnt always keep my stick on the ice! And yes I always have lots of duct tape handy at home. (I'm not kidding!) LOL! I have heard that comment many times before! Thats just the voice me mom gave to me. LOL!
Rnbra-shooter: I am using the G7 Litz ballistic coefficient. My shot card was amazingly accurate out to 1500! But fell off at 1760yds. I never shot at 1600 or 1700yds, so I dont know exactly at what distance the shot card values started to deviate. And thanks for the encouragement! I have always ate, breathed, slept, dreamed, & day dreamed shooting my whole life. When I get into a new line of interest like this long range game, all my energy becomes very focused untill I reach my goal. Kind of the obsessive/compulsive approach.....LOL! My wife is a very, VERY understanding lady! Bless her heart!
Mystic precision: I have worked out a load with the 208's a while back. I think i will take your advice and see what they will do. I am presently limited to 2000yds. though. I would love to find another spot to launch my long range program! The holes in the target board are very clean and round. I didnt realize what was meant by the comment by top predator, untill I sent the post. A blonde moment so to speak. LOL! You mentioned a mechanical scope base. Do you know if there are any available? Who makes them? That would be sweet if I could swing that into my shooting system! I have seen them on the big 50's, but nowhere else. How practical are they?
If I could find an area that has 2100-2500 I might try it. But i would soon have to use my mil lines for referance, hence that "mechanical base" you were talking about. LOL!
Gunsliger:You are right, I am very passioate about my shooting. It is just who I am.
Thankyou to everyone for your input! It really shortens the learning curve! Take care and straight shoot'in guys!
