NOT true. COMMON=Boring.
There are plenty of oldies that are interesting, many of which pre-date the 30-06.
Imagine with me for a sec.
Setting: a group of shooters at the range.
"So, what are you shooting today?"
"Oh, it's my old '71 348 WCF"
"Really, That's different, tell me more about it!"
vs.
"So, what are you shooting today?"
"My 30-06"
"Oh." (Exit stage left)
Try shooting that beast all day long![]()
This thread is similar to listening to a group of people discuss which is better/worse Ford, Dodge or Chevy. I would have to say that all cartridges are the opposite of boring. I really love the idea that I can load (x) calibre cartridge into an appropriate firearm. I can then confirm my target and ready the firearm for discharge. I can then squeeze the curved metal protected piece, visualize my shot and then BLAM. That is magical in my mind, not boring at all. If it were boring, I would certainly not invest the time, nor money that I have.
no cartridge is boring imo.
who gives a rats ass if its common or not... doesn't make you any cooler if you own 300 rifles in rare chamberings then the one person who has his grandaddy's 30-06.
The 30-06 guy probably shoots better, anyways.![]()

I allways thought it was the guy with the "one gun" you had to worry about.Probably not. The guy with only grandaddys rifle probably isn't that interested in firearms and shooting, and goes through abox of shells a year. Most peopel that own a few more guns tend to shoot more often.
Not always true, but often.

i shoot a 100 grain hornady hollow point pushed by 76.5 grains or RL 22. Tell me why the 4000 fps isnt a possibility, my dad shoots 120 grain barnes with 73.5 grains of RL 22 and it has been chronoed at over 3600 fps, why is 4000 impossible, and the gun wont blow up as there isnt even pressure signs on the casings yet and yes i know what pressure looks like4000fps with a 7mm RM and a 100 grain bullet would be EXCITING - not boring in the slightest!!! Especially the part where the gun blows up in your face!
3600fps would be a more realistic performance stat

There's guy's that have been shooting the same gun for years so they know where it shoots.
