That Damned Crack

You might have to hog the crack out completely and either make up a spacer block or fill it with fibreglass resin. I would also make up a cross slot and add an internal cross bar to hold it all together, all the way from each inside wall. Then, I would take a serious look at refinishing the ways.

Sometimes, the little things turn into big things. If the stock doesn't have matching numbers to the receiver, I would consider replacing it completely, before doing a major refit.

The refit isn't a real big deal but it is fastidiuos and takes a lot of time to do it right.

Milsurp Knowledge site has some information and instructions by Peter Laidler on this type of fix.

I've used a cyroacrylic glue called Hot Stuff. It comes in various viscosities from very thin to crack filling and also can be used with a fixer for fast setting. I got it at Lee Valley. Oops sorry Only read the first few posts about fixing the dammed crack.
