Well.... here I am opening morning sitting in th ehouse at 8:30 having a coffee.... waiting for the young lad to have a shower so he can help me hang my deer....

7:20 AM a nice heavy 4 point that I previously had seen on my camera walked out broadside and hung up behind a clump of brush..... I waited for what seemed like 15 minutes for him to move and eventually it took the step I needed... I put the crosshairs right behind teh shoulder blade and with one squeeze he collapsed in a heap.... lucky I have 2 tags or I would really regret having taken 2 weeks off!.... attached is a pic of him from my cam... will post the hanging pic when I get the job done...

Nice!

Your story reminds me of a moose calf I took about 10 years ago.
I was sneaking up to my blind on a slough (same one I've hunted since I was a kid) and have learned to always keep my eyes open on it while approaching.

I see this cow and calf feeding beside a beaver hut but I'd be shooting through willows so I keep sneaking. I'm just about in position to shoot when I step on a small twig. The cow hears me but I'm behind this cottonwood.

She's looking right in my direction from about 130 yards away and I had to wait for an eternity motionless (about 6 minutes) until she stuck her head in the water.

I leaned back around the tree and shot the calf high in the chest with my .270 as he was quartered towards me. No wasted meat.

What I'm getting at is I've shot a lot of moose. More than I can count but that calf, I'll always remember that hunt and I'm sure it will be the same for you with that buck!

Thanks guys..... here's the pic.... I have a second tag to fill so I am planning on letting the bush settle in and heading back out... I have two weeks off and our season doesn't end until the 21st!....
