Went into a local gun shop on Monday to place a deposit on the M&P9 range kit and was told it might be a week until they had more. Call came yesterday evening that they had received the shipment and that I could come in and pay it off. I did so and about 10-20 minutes after I left, I get a call from then with my reference number. CFC was closed by this time so I jotted it down and phoned the CFO this morning. Within half an hour I had the STATT, LTATT and the buyer notification in my email inbox. Printed them out and picked up my gun. Gonna head to the range tommorow, I guess in Alberta, the buyer notification allows me to use the LTATT, until my reg card arrives in the mail.

Just want to say that this was actually way less painful than I thought it would be.

Congrats on your M&P purchase. Had mine 4 months now and absolutely love it.

Yes, we're lucky in Alberta regarding the ease with which we can get our paperwork done. I've always found the CFO's office to be efficient and friendly. I feel for the poor folks in Ontario.

What range do you shoot at? I'm a member of a couple ranges in Edmonton, maybe I'll see you around.

I bought a gun at Wholesale Sports in Winnipeg once. They told me to wait around for a half hour while they phoned the CFO. CFO faxed em some temporary papers and I think I probably left the store w/in a hour of telling them I wanted to buy it. CFO also covers Nunavut, maybe we've got a big budget :D .

They were quite a bit slower with some of my more recent aquisitions but those were thru the mail and I needed to fax in some documentation to prove my range membership b/c it was out of date or something.
