Was out hunting with my father and spotted a large fat ass in front of us about 200 yards away. Put the binoculars on it and yup, that's a bear's backside and a decent sized butt to boot. The bear then turned around and started trotting towards us as I raised my rifle and that's when the bear stepped out of the shadows and into the bright sunlight. That's when the large hump, the face, and the colour stood out. That is a very silver grizzly. He got within about 100 yards of us before slowly turning and veering into the thick underbrush. We decided it was smarter to just walk back to the vehicle. Gorgeous animal... too bad we can no longer hunt them :p

Enjoy those moments, that’s a flavor of wild Americans secretly all wish they still had and could arm themselves for. None of us want to say it aloud, but we all appreciate having things to be afraid of in the wild. That’s the kid that’s still alive inside middle aged us. Said as a fella who’s chosen to be close to scores of them through professions.

Seen another grizzly on a hunt on Saturday after hunting on the way out. Only black bear I seen was accidentally coming between a sow and some younglings. She was not a very happy bear and I ended up walking backwards down the trail for about 300m while she followed before peeling off into the brush.

Allegedly there is one wondering around on the Sunshine Coast...
Not saying down at Sea level, but one has been spotted by some shroom hunters in the last couple of weeks.
Co-worker has a picture on his phone...didnt get to see it as the boss came 'round while we chatted so had to look busy, such is life f a Union Thug.

Grizzly bears are in most areas of BC now, including Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, East & West Kootenays, the Peace regions, Caribou regions and everywhere in between.

Limited Entry Hunting needs to be returned to our province. The grizzly bear populations are sustainable for LEH hunting. Our Cranbrook Conservation Officer Service destroys more grizzlies annually than all the former LEH authorizations put together in BC.

The COS is now under a microscope from wildlife groups for destroying both black bears and grizzly bears.

Maybe our corrupt NDP government should have used science instead of political pressure from snowflakes in the first place in deciding to close the grizzly harvest. We can hope a newly elected Conservative government here in BC will again allow LEH of grizzly bears. Both a spring and fall LEH should become available if the Conservatives were smart!.......:)

ya last year we were stopped by a CO in region 2 in an area I have hunted for 20+ years and never seen sign of grizzly. Lots of black bears but never a sign of a grizzly. When he learned what valley we would be headed up he specifically cautioned us that a big boar had taken territory in that valley and to keep our heads on swivels in the alpine.
It doesn't surprise me.... the elk are moving in there, moose numbers are rising and there's lots of black bears to feed on as well.
Grizzly have long been known to be on the west side of the main valley , which is a short jaunt for a grizzly to the sunshine coast where there are lots of elk to feed on. They actually closed the west side ranges to all hunting to protect it as grizzly habitat. Hopefully they don't make further stupid decisions now that the population is spreading east. Heading up there on friday to my favorite blacktail spot so hopefully we just see deer and no big bears. MD is up at camp already and by himself so hopefully i find him well when i get up there.

I climbed into a back valley with no road access after goats last year. I found a good billy and made a stalk to about 300 yards up an avalanche chute. Right when I was about to shoot I noticed movement in the cliffs above the goat. Down came a grizzly full bore at the goat. The goat seen the bear and took off. I thought I was in big trouble with the bear having high ground and charging directly downhill towards me but when he got to the spot the goat was he broke off. Something I will never forget.

It was cool living amongst 7 of them in the Horsefly area. Till one got close. Two sows with 2 cubs each and one big boar. When the sow stood up I swear she was over 10' high. Exit stage right.
That country is a lot more "beary" than people realize. I loved my time in the Cariboo. Lived just a few miles off the Horsefly Road.

As per the Manitoba hunting guide, we're not allowed to shoot Grizzles either here, but they do admit we have them.

A few km. from me, recently. There was speculation ma and the cubs were implicated on an attack on a bow hunter. Turned out not.
