if you can press in the take out pin pin by simply resting your finger on it....you've got a problem!

This "interesting" point of view regarding the 1911 has come up before on CGN, I believe on the General Discussion forum. IIRC the thread was eventually locked.

Anyway, I guess the "theory" doesn't apply to a left handed shooter like myself since my right hand wouldn't be in a position to push on the protruding end of the slide stop..... ;)

NAA.

Weird. Who shoots a gun like that? Your resting your index finger right under a part that moves an inch or more backwards and forwards in a millisecond.
Surly the problem would be more well know after the 100 years the gun has been in production.
I guess because people are smart enough to realize that the trigger on a gun was designed to be actuated with the most dexterous finger on the hand.
In my experience the middle finger is not as sensitive as the index finger.
Unless somebody cuts you off on the highway. Then that thing knows it's business.

What the f**k was that??? :onCrack: I'm not sure whether to laugh or just shake my head... Where do people come up with this crap?

I'll second that. Just as I'm wondering how you would manage to pull the trigger and push on the pin at the same time, I see that bizarre grip in the video.

There are four even-more-fatal flaws:

:eek::eek::eek:If your grip pushes up on the safety, THE GUN WILL NOT FIRE!:eek::eek::eek:
:eek::eek::eek:If your grip pushes on the mag release, THE MAG FALLS OUT!:eek::eek::eek:
:eek::eek::eek:If you don't squeeze the grip safety, THE GUN WILL NOT FIRE!:eek::eek::eek:
:eek::eek::eek:If you hook your thumb over the hammer, THE GUN WILL NOT FIRE!:eek::eek::eek:

Send me your deathtrap 1911's before it is too late!

I may have this wrong! But I believe the guy who make this clip and pushes this idea has been banned from a number of gun sites. I again I think it not for his theory but for his attitude to other site uses!

Well you don't want to apply pressure there when the gun is cycling that's for sure... if anything there is probably more chance of a lefty pushing pressure there with the thumb of their weak hand when using both hands on the gun.
The finger pointing thing doesn't feel right for me on the 1911.

HAha, that video with the weird documentary voice is hilarious.

Can't say I've ever seen that happen! I guess it could be something to be aware of...maybe? LOL.

you point with a 1911 with your thumbs anyways there's no reason to use your pointer finger this video is totally bogus. i guess with anything great there will always be people trying to make a name pointing out imagined flaws.

This one? f:P:

This video is a good example of what's wrong with YouTube. There are some good videos, and lots of garbage. For those who care, you should log in and give it a thumbs down.
